Request: "Joseph X female reader where the reader is getting attacked by a survivor during a match and Joseph comes to the rescue, it would be so fluffy 🙈"Hunched over a cipher machine, your fingers dashed over the keys as you decoded the machine. Although complex, you'd been playing puzzle games for years, and this was barely different. Your father taught you all sorts of skills like that. Your father.. You sure did miss him. Hopefully, today would be your day to escape the maze.
What your father didn't teach you was how to know when you were being snuck up on. Your guard was almost always down, and even if you were paranoid, you were horrible at picking out what the true danger was. Luckily, you'd made friends with the hunter, so you doubted he'd betray and murder you. Unluckily, seeing you get close with the hunter got some of the other survivors riled up, and as you finished the cipher, you were snatched up and dragged backwards to a locker.
Across the map, Joseph was fiddling with his camera when he heard a troubling sound-- The sound of a particular survivor named y/n screaming bloody murder. She must be hurt, he thought, a bit panicked. The two of you had become fast friends, and he planned on sparing you. After all, you were a just a dainty young woman, and he was a gentleman. Troubled, he went to find you, nearly tripping over the bottom of his jacket. "Y/n!" He shouted, "What's the matter?"
You couldn't hear him, though, for you were struggling against your assailant. You couldn't get a good look, but you knew it was a guy. The attacker was much taller than you were, and his body was built different. Besides, you known for being a scrappy fighter at school. If a girl had gone after you, you would have easily overpowered her and pounded her into the ground.
Joseph found the locker and quickly ripped the two of you apart. You sat up on the ground to see Naib, glowering at you like you were the bane of his existence. His elbow pads were scuffed and falling apart, signifying he must've been using them throughout the game. No wonder he was so fast getting over here, you thought scornfully, He probably wasted the durability on me. Moron.
"You're fraternizing with the enemy!" Naib accused, struggling as Joseph started to drag him to a chair, "You threw our chances out the window! You're a traitorous bitch!"
That seemed to bring out pure fury in the photographer. Joseph slammed the boy into the chair, tying him up roughly with barbed wire as he snarled, "I will camp this spot so nobody can save you! You hear me? Anyone who comes after you will suffer the same fate you are now!"
You rubbed your eyes weakly, getting to your feet. Was this really the right option? Joseph was sweet, he promised to ensure your victory, and you were quite close.. He was even a bit handsome; you could see yourself taking him for a date. But what the other survivors were saying was true, too. He was a hunter. He was sent here to destroy you all.. Was it okay to sacrifice the others for the two of you?
No, that wasn't quite right. Naib wasn't a sacrifice. In fact, Joseph hadn't attacked anyone until he heard you in distress. It was his fault for attacking you over befriending someone. It was his fault for trying to murder someone on his own team. You weren't a traitor; he was. When Naib was gone, you approached Joseph with a meek voice.
"Thanks for saving me.." You murmured, "You didn't have to do that."
"Of course I did. What kind of a man would I be if I let a fair lady as yourself die at the hands of a scoundrel? I would never forgive myself, Y/n."
"You.. Really mean that?"
Joseph smiled softly as he took your hands in his own, kissing the top of them. "Yes. Of course I do."
