"Look out, Y/n!!" Emily's shrill voice filled your ears; you barely had any time to react before Leo came barreling at you. Time to kite him. You started in on throwing down a pallet and were scurrying over it when the pain of a hit jolted through your body. The pain was spreading, and you could hear a gasp from a girl to your right.. Your vision started to blur the map around you as your body hit the ground in front of the pallet.
You showed up at the mansion on an accident. You didn't get a letter like the other players. You didn't come in seek of a prize. You didn't even know the manor existed before you stumbled upon it. Really, you had just been walking your dog when she broke off from her leash. She immediately ran into a hole in the side of the towering building; it looked so intimidating, but you couldn't just leave her there. So, warily, you approached the door and knocked. And knocked. And knocked. Perhaps the house was abandoned..? You decided to take a chance and pushed the door open on your own, but it locked immediately when you walked inside. Four pairs of eyes were staring back at you.
As it turns out, you had been trapped in what these people called a game. A game in which you would all be playing against each other for a prize. You assumed you wouldn't need to participate, that you could just talk it out with the hunter, but.. That hadn't worked. You had been taken quite quickly to a rocket chair, a terrifying device that would send you back to the mansion after the hunter tied you up to it and the countdown went down. Since that day, you learned how to survive from the other members of the manor and got to familiarize yourself with them.
Leo, the hunter, who happened to be Emma's father. Kreacher, the thief who was looking to build an orphanage. Emma, the gardener who yearned to get her father back again. Freddy, the lawyer who was looking for a fun game to play. And Emily, the doctor who wanted to change her past and get a stable home. Emily.... She was always your favorite.
The sound of splintering wood jolted you back into the reality of your situation, sending a rush of anxiety into you as you quickly crouched down and held your head from the blossoming pain. Leo wrapped your body in balloons and took you to a rocket chair, tying you up with barbed wire. The pain was excruciating as you dug your nails against the chair. Fuck. I'm going to be sent back. I don't want to be sent back. You started to struggle, crying out as the wire dug into your fragile skin. You saw Kreacher, laughing from behind a tree. What a bastard. To your right, in the distance, was the shape of Emma destroying a rocket chair near Freddy, who was decoding with his fingers mashing against the keys. Was nobody going to save you? Were you going to be sent away with no help?
As Leo turned his back, you felt graceful fingers unraveling the wire tying your body to the chair. You smiled softly when you saw the face of Emily, who put a finger to her lips and grabbed your hand as the two of you ran from the sight. You could hear thundering footsteps behind you, but your friend's soft smile reassured you that you would both be okay. If you could only make your way around the factory to ensure you wouldn't get caught..
The footsteps behind you began to subside, and Emily jerked you to hide behind a spool of rope before starting to heal up your wounds. "Thank you," You whispered softly, resting your head on her shoulder. You got another chance to escape the manor. Another chance to show the hunter you weren't one to mess with.
