Halloween

The Confession

After a hour or so Kate finally heard everything.The connection between Michael and Laurie and the mysterious murders it was all finally making sense to her.

"I can't believe this" she said.

"We're so sorry you had to find out this way but we at least owe you the truth" Loomis said.

"We have to tell Laurie" she said.

"We can't if Laurie found out we don't know how she would take it and we're already being hit with a deadline" Ben said.

"Dad Laurie is my best friend i can't keep this from her I'm sorry" Katie said.

Ben got up from his chair clearly frustrated,with so many thoughts running through his mind everything kept getting worse .

"Kate we been working on this the best we can I need you to not tell Laurie" Ben said.

"I can't promise you that I'm sorry dad" She said.

"Don't feel sorry I get it you want to protect your friend, but either way if you tell her or not she will still be in danger" Loomis said.

Katie sighed with discomfort and got up from her chair.

"I'll be in my room if you need me".

She walked away leaving Loomis and Ben to discuss what to do.

"I know this might sound crazy but I think we should wait it out til Halloween"Loomis suggested.

"Til halloween? Are you crazy?,Loomis he's not going to stop killing and what if he does find her before then?" Ben asked.

"He won't if we keep your guys watching her every few hours or so and Kate can help out we can make sure she's safe until Halloween" Loomis said.

"I think I'm following this plan,we let Kate stay with Laurie until Halloween to watch her and that'll give us enough time to figure out his pattern?" Ben asked.

"Exactly! We know he doesn't pop up when theres a crowd and he watches Laurie from a distance or at least we think he does,so when he is not watching her what is he doing?" Loomis said.

"Multiple things but that doesn't matter to me how can we stop him from killing more people in the meantime?" Ben wondered.

"A curfew? Or a town emergency?" Loomis suggested.

"We gotta figure this out we have to we have less than a week" Ben said.

As they continued their conversation downstairs,upstairs Katie was calling Laurie's house praying that she would pick up before her dad would notice.

"Cmon Laurie pick up I know you're home".

On the fifth ring she finally picked up.

"Thank god Laurie is that you?" She asked.

"Jesus Kate what's wrong? Of course it's me"She replied.

"Listen Laurie you gotta meet me at the mall it's a emergency I would tell you over the phone but my dad is downstairs" Katie said.

"Is this another boy problem cause if so I rather you just tell me here I got all this homework I gotta do" Laurie said.

"No it's about you I learned something that you have to know" Katie said.

"Me? What is it about?"Laurie asked.

"Just meet me at the mall! Hurry! Meet me at food court".

Katie hung up the phone and got dressed as fast as she could,Laurie was finally going to know the truth.
