I finally couldn't take it anymore. I called him.

He told me that the earliest he could meet me was next week, and I was okay with it, because I wasn't sure of what to feel about the fact that I could very soon know what had happened to April.

Finally, the awaited day arrived.

I nervously played with my straw in orange juice in the cup in the café we had designated our meeting spot, waiting for Jinyoung ssi to arrive.

“Where is he?” I muttered. He was already five minutes late.

“Sorry,” a voice said, and I looked up to see him. He gave me a small smile as he slid into the seat across from me. A waitress came over, and he asked for a cup of black coffee.

He then turned his attention to me, “I forgot all about her until you came up to me and asked…”

I clenched my fists. What kind of boyfriend is he?

“Before you get angry and punch me,” Jinyoung chuckled, “I want to tell you that we were never really dating.”

My jaw dropped, “WHAT?!”

I was not suspecting that.

Jinyoung continued on, “I was paid to play her boyfriend.”

“But that's not possible,” I said, not wanting to believe it, and not believe my ears. Why would she not want me if she didn't love someone else?

“I wasn't paid by her,” he chuckled darkly as his black coffee came. He took a sip from his coffee before continuing, “I was paid by someone else. In fact, Hye Mi was paid too.”

“Who is it?” I asked, my heart clenching, already knowing who it was.

“Your mother.”
