"I can't believe we just ate that much food, again!" Jayden once more collapses on the couch.

"Thanksgiving, baby," I smile, collapsing onto the couch as well.

We'd spent the day watching the Star Wars movies and playing some Uno since that was the only card game we all knew how to play. The day had passed by pretty quickly and by 7:30 we decided it was time for the dinner edition of Thanksgiving. I don't know how any of us fit more food into our stomachs, but we made room and then some.

"Haley, will you turn the lights on?" My dad asks, coming into the living room with a big bag.

I nod, getting up and flipping the switch. Every Thanksgiving my dad would give my mom and I a present. He always said it was his way of showing he was thankful for us, but I think it's his own need to give. He gets too excited about giving presents and seeing the face of surprise when someone receives an unexpected gift. He's a nice guy like that.

"What's with the bag?" Jayden asks.

"Only the best Thanksgiving tradition ever!" Emma smiles, already holding her hands out.

"Gifts?" Jayden looks concerned and a little out of place.

I smile to him, "Relax, Jam. It's not what you think."

"Emma," My dad places a present in her hands, "You're first, as always."

"Hell yeah!" Emma starts ripping the paper like a madwoman, "What'd you get me this time, Fred. A tissue box? A half empty hand sanitizer? Oh oh, I know, more stuffing!"

My dad smiles, not saying anything and just waiting for her to open the present and see. He always looks suspicious when it comes to giving us our Thanksgiving gift. It always looks like he's up to no good, and he usually is.

"A broken condom!" Emma yells, basically laughing, "Fred, how'd you know I needed one?" She says in between gasps of air.

Did I forget to mention it?

My dad's version of 'unexpected gifts' is giving all of us something we need but just not quite there. Hence, the broken condom. Emma needs them to complete her alphabet of fucks, but a broken one is useless. Last year, I got a single sock because I could never find any pairs and kept wearing mismatched ones. He just ended up adding to the the chaos that was my sock drawer.

Jayden looked confused now rather than the concerned look he had when my dad first brought out the gifts. He looks to me, his eyebrows between raised and furrowed, an odd combination that makes him look completely flabbergasted. This is definitely not a fancy gift exchange, this is pure prank that my dad liked to play on us.

"You're next, Jayden," My dad extends a present to him.

"Oh," He seems surprised to receive a gift, "Thanks," He accepts the gift with a smile.

Unwrapping it, Jayden looks at his present with wide eyes. I lean over to see what he's looking at and burst out in laughter. My dad, although not knowing Jayden for long, absolutely nailed it. In Jayden's hand there's a stack of business cards. While his name is nice and big, underneath it are the words 'Tutor to Haley Jones'.

"Dad, that's hilarious," I say through laughter.

"I'm never gonna be able to use these," Jayden whispers with a smile on his face.

"And now, Haley," My dad hands me my gift, which is more of a prank.

"You think you can surpass last year?" I ask him, unwrapping the present.
