A few months had passed. Leading the days to be shorter and nights longer. It finally had made it to winter. My favorite time of the year. I had mentioned going on vacation subtly to everyone, somehow tricking them into going with.
"Ok, so! Tomorrow, our flight leaves at six in the morning. We have to be at the airport at four-thirty, be at the gate by five and eat while we wait. I have everything planned for the most part. You all just have the responsibility to show up." I smiled. It came close to the end of my work day. Me being the first one to leave.
"Right, and what about JJ?" Reid asked. He knew I hadn't gotten along with her ever since the fight. But for Emily's sake and my job, I ignored it and acted like it never happened.
"She'll meet us there with Henry, Michael, and Will." I informed. I slung my bag over my shoulder. "Now, don't be late because I won't wait and neither will the plane. I'll see you all bright and early!"
With a chorus of 'nights' I skipped out. Excitement filling my body as tomorrow I'd be on a plane with my friends and family to vacation. It was all planned and set in stone. Any case that needed attention would be given to the back up team.
My last task of the day would be picking up Cos from the neighbors. Then, obviously, put him to bed. A simple night routine.
~~~T.S~~~
Cosmos was in bed, leaving me to wait up for Em. The glass of wine sat on the table. I had a gut feeling I wouldn't drink it. After all, the only thing I could think of was the vacation. And the big plan for the vacation.
Thinking about it made me begin to worry. Did I pack the ring? Is it still in my drawer? Is it in suit case or the carry on? With those thoughts, I got up to check. Searching through the suitcase. Not finding it there.
I repacked and got ready to search my carry-on. Stopping as Emily came in. "You're worrying too much. We packed everything." She hugged me from behind.
A dry laugh left my mouth, "I know, I just can't help it. Is your bag packed?" I raised my hand to touch her cheek.
"It is, is yours?" She returned the question. I nodded, begging to feel tired. "Come on, lets put this all by the front door. Then it's to bed for you."
"Ok mom," I joked. Breaking from her grasp and taking the bags to the living room. Going to grab Cos's dinosaur bag from his room. Planting a soft kiss on his forehead before leaving. Dropping the bag by the rest.
And as I walked back into the shared room, I caught a glimpse of a almost-naked Emily in the mirror. Smirking at the sight. Her head was hanging low, probably looking for pajamas. Quietly, I sneak up behind her. I got ready to jump onto her back, but she was quick to notice the creak in the floor.
"You were so close," the woman with ravenous hair laughed. Grabbing a big shirt and sleep shorts. She turned around, kissing me soft, before heading into the bathroom.
While she took her time doing her night routine, I change into only a sweatshirt and underwear. Flopping onto the bed. I scrolled through my phone as I waited for her to come out. Liking pictures of friends and their families. Some getting married, some who have just lost a relative, some who just got a dog, and some who just had a kid.
Being so lost in the lives of others, I never noticed Emily come out. That was until she scared me. My phone dropping to the floor. I rolled over, now on my back. Em now sitting on my hips. "You're terrible. There is a child sleep down the hall, incase you forgot." I said.
"If he's out, he's out cold. He has your sleeping habits." She smiled. I mocked her then proceed to push her off me.
"I literally cannot stand you Emily Prentiss." I shook my head. Taking my phone as she offered it. "Mya and Nate just got engaged. Nickie just got married. And Sylvia just had a kid. Her name is Venus."
