I push open the door, colliding straight into Spencer."S-sorry S-Spencer," I flop while looking dead at our shoes. His converse toe-to-toe with my boots. I could feel his presence towering over me. How I hated being so short.
Just as I was about to move past him, he shuffled backwards to be right in front of me again. "What's wrong?"
"Um, nothing, really." I lied.
"Can you look me in the eyes and say that or do I have to drive you back to the station?" He riddled. I give out a short laugh. Lifting my head to face his. He small smile vanishes, "Hey what's wrong?"
"I just, God this is embarrassing." I sniffed. "I just thought about my mom."
"Miss her? Like more than usual?" He embraces me.
"Yeah, just a tad. I still haven't told Em. I have this hard feeling she thinks I'm mad at her." I confided.
"Maybe she's just confused. You have to tell her eventually, she'll bring her up at a point." He predicted.
I just nod, and hug him tighter. "Thank you," I softly said.
"Anytime, now back to the station? The case hasn't finished yet." He reminds. I pull back and pat his shoulder.
"You are a work whore Dr. Reid, in a good way though!" I said walking away. I jump into the drivers side. Waiting for the others to join.
Not long until the car has Reid, JJ, and I. We drove in chatter. Talking about how we only have two out of who knows how many. My guess in our bet was six unsubs. JJ claimed ten, and Reid proceeded to over think it.
We were a weird family. Always doing the most.
We pull into the lot of the station. All releasing a heavy sigh. "This is going to be an absolute nightmare," I chimed.
"Tell me about it," JJ agreed.
"Statistically-," Reid started.
"No, save it. I love you and your facts but not now." I cut off. "Now let's get in there and get this done with. I want to go home." Reid gives a sad nod, breaking my heart. I felt bad about my comment now. Did it break his heart that much that I didn't want to listen to one of his millions of facts? "Ease up back there pretty boy. I was only joking. I would love to hear your statistical fact Reid." I could sense a small smile pull at his lips.
"Statistically partners in crime will give up their partner to try and get a less sentence by the judge."(a/n don't quote me on that). He fact checked.
"So this should go a bit easier," JJ sighed hopefully.
"Yeah, ok." I roll my eyes playfully.
We walk into the building, instantly finding Hotch and Rossi by the door. Reid and JJ walk over, while I go to grab the sweatshirt I took from Em's closet. It was cold in the building. I soon join the four while pulling the sweatshirt over my head.
"Mars. You go in." We're the first words from Hotch to me. Before I could even give a 'huh' a file smacked my chest. I clutch it, knowing I have no say, and flow into the room with the blonde from earlier.
The moment I open the door, was the moment I felt his personality switch. Before I walked in he was nervous. Bouncing his leg like I did in the plane. He was biting his nail. Hair falling in his face and he didn't care. Me walking in changed all that. His leg stopped, his hand dropped, and his other hand pushed the hair back.
The way his complete persona change threw me off. He was more nervous before I walked in. Then he tried to establish a dominant picture. Let me just say, failed.
