The air was fresh and it was filled with the smell of saltwater. Normally, people wouldn't enjoy the smell of saltwater in the early morning, but you would get used to it if you lived in a certain place for long.
"Papà! Papà! Svegliati!"
A sleepy smile came to the male's face who was being called. He opened his eyes as two boys crawled onto the large bed, bright smiles decorating their freckled faces. "Buongiorno," he spoke as he removed the covers to allow the twins to cuddle with him; a normal thing in the morning during weekends.
Felix wrapped his arms tightly around the two and listened to the two giggles. "How did you two sleep?" Felix asks, switching to the other language he had been teaching the 3-year-olds. "Good!" The brunette of the two said. Felix smiled and kissed both of their heads. "Let's get breakfast before we head to the market," Felix said and the two toddlers nodded their heads, slithering out of the bed. Their little feet made light tapping noises as they waddled out of the room.
Felix removed the thin covers and swung his legs over the bed, his feet touching the warm wooden flooring. He stood up and walked over to his window, pulling the curtains back and laughing at the greetings he was given by the people surrounding him.
He poked his head out and smiled at the single mothers and the aunties that greeted him. "Buongiorno anche a te," Felix greeted back and the woman next to him caught his attention. "So when are you going to get a boyfriend, il mio dolce ragazzo?" She asks and Felix smiles. "You'll get to meet him soon, Zia," Felix replied, "I just have to figure out how to either get him here or get myself there than get his culo over here." A mixture of different laughs made him smile. "Well, in bocca al lupo with that, dear," An older woman spoke and Felix smiled towards them. "Grazie nonna," Felix said, "now I have to feed two hungry boys."
The group of women waved the young father goodbye and he disappeared from the window view; pulling the curtains close so he could change in peace after breakfast. He exited the small room and walked down the winding staircase to the bottom floor, where the two boys were located; playing with the stuffed animals Felix had gotten for their 1st birthday. "What do you two want for breakfast?" Felix asks as he slipped into the kitchen that was visible from the living room, giving him a perfect view of the two boys.
The brunette of the two shouted first, "Yogurt e frutta!" Felix smiles at the response and gets a small bowl out for the boy. "Ryu, what do you want?" Felix asks as he looks over to where the boy was. Ryu, the other boy, smiled brightly as he spoke, "brioche." Felix looked through the pantry and smiled. "Anything with that, Drago?" Ryu didn't answer for a while and Felix waited until he answered. "Strawberries! Ooh, ooh! Can it be warm too?" Ryu said and Felix chuckled, nodding his head in answer. "Of course, Ryu," Felix answered and a happy noise echoed through the house; from both Ryu and his brother.
The toddler's noises filled the small house as Felix occupied himself with making the babies breakfast. He mixed the yogurt and fruits for the youngest and set it into the fridge so nothing bad would happen to it. He made Ryu his and set it on a plate, along with making his own croissant.
"Michi and Ryu, come sit at the table," Felix said as he picked up their food. Michi, the youngest, and Ryu ran into the kitchen and climbed onto the chairs. Felix placed their food in front of them, along with the utensils they needed. Felix turns around and grabs his food from the counter. He looked towards the table and smiled at the toddlers who were waiting patiently; their food untouched. "You don't have to wait for me to sit down," Felix said as he sat down.
"Papà," Michi said as he picked up his spoon. Felix hummed in response and looked at him. "Where's daddy?" He asks and Felix froze. "What do you mean?" Felix asks and Michi points towards the empty chair next to Felix. "You say we got daddy, where is daddy?" Michi asks and Felix wasn't prepared to be questioned about the missing person so early on. "Daddy is...far away right now," Felix said with a small smile, "we'll get to meet him soon. I'm trying to figure out how to get there."
Without getting caught. Is what Felix wanted to add but decided against it as he didn't need two confused boys asking him a billion questions. "Now, eat up so we can go to the mercato," Felix said and the two quickly nodded.
They finished and Felix picked up the dishes while the two scrambled up the stairs to change. Felix cleaned the dishes and set them in the drying rack before walking up the stairs as well to his room. He closed his door, leaving a small crack, before grabbing clothes to change into. He laid the outfit down and nodded to himself, changing into the clothes he had put down; a light-washed, high-waisted pair of shorts, a cropped button-up shirt, and a belt to pull it together. He fixed the clothes to where they were more comfortable and grabbed a pair of socks from his bottom drawer.
He sat on the edge of the bed and his door opened, showing Michi and Ryu dressed in their matching shirts. "Are we matching today?" Felix asks as the two skip inside. "Michi said we match," Ryu said and Michi bounced from side to side with a bright smile. Felix smiles and puts on the socks he had in his hands. He looked at the boy's feet to see they already had socks on. "Alright, let's head downstairs now," He said and the two toddlers went before him.
Felix grabbed the small, but beautiful, wallet from his side table and left his room to get his shoes on as well. He got to the front door and watched as the two struggled to tie their shoes. Michi was the first to look at Felix and ask, "can you tie my shoes please?" Felix smiles and squats down. "Good job for asking so nicely," Felix praised and Michi smiled brightly, watching as his papà tied his shoes. Felix kissed the side of his head and did Ryu's who didn't ask. Once the two were set, Felix slipped on his shoes and grabbed his sunglasses, handing the toddlers theirs as well.
