The weather decided to change Felix's plans after yesterday. He expected a beautiful clear sky, with maybe a few clouds, to take Ryu and Michi to the cove for some water time. Instead, he was met with pouring rain with thunder and lightning every few seconds; and did he love it.
Of course, his sons didn't like it at all as the thunder was too loud and the lighting was scary. Felix was fast asleep after getting the twins situated in his bed beside him for comfort. It was too early for them to be bothering him, and they were well aware of that, so they clung onto their Papà as they listened to hiscalm breathing.
A few minutes passed and Felix decided he didn't need to sleep anymore. He inhaled deeply and smiled when he heard the frightened twins start blabbering about how they wanted to go downstairs and play with their toys. "You two go down first, I want to see how bad it is," He said and the two didn't budge. "Or not," He said with a chuckle. He removed his blanket and crawled towards the edge of his bed. He pulled his curtains back and winced at the outside shutters of his neighbor's houses and some of the small bushes and trees could be practically blown off of their roots if the wind was any harder.
He closed his curtains and turned towards his sons who were holding onto each. "Awe, it's okay," Felix cooed as he got out of bed and picked them up. "Papà will protect you from the scary mostro di illuminazione."
He started making random fighting noises as he spun around to make the twins more relaxed; which worked well because the boys became a giggling mess in a few seconds. Felix smiled and placed them down. "Go downstairs," He said, "I'll be down in a few moments."
The two nodded their heads and quickly walked out of the room. Felix's smile that was adorned onto his face dropped into a frown as he slowly looked down towards his hands. He gave a deep sigh as he restrained himself from closing his eyes; not wanting horrible memories of when he was the lighting monster.

The storm didn't stop a few hours later, it kept going through lunch. He had made the twins their favorite food as a way of praise for being so calm and good during the horrendous storm outside. He had done some chores while the twins were distracted and he was now situated on the floor of his living room; making a sweater out of the fabric he gets whenever he gets inspiration for something while he's at the market.
The twins were casually playing with the superhero playset the old lady next door gave them when they first arrived. Felix never bothered to look at the playset as he thought they were fictional ones, until just now.
"Papà! Papà, look at my supereroe," Michi called as he did circles in front of his parental figure to get his attention. Felix looked at them with a smile as Michi pretended to have the action figure fly into Felix's hands. As it "landed", Felix's eyes scanned the figure and his smile dropped. His world, the small romantic world he once lived in, was flicked back on a color-filled his head at all of the happy moments that he shared with the human version of the action figure. "How..cute," Felix managed to say as he forced on a smile to look at his son who didn't seem to notice the mood change in the adult. "Yeah!" Michi said and "flew" the superhero back towards where Ryu was waiting.
Felix's eyes flicked between his hands to his sons for a few seconds before he gave a deep sigh. His head hung low as his eyes closed with his hands forming into fists to force memories away for the moment. He opened his eyes and quickly dabbed his hands around his cheeks to make sure no tears had fallen.
He shook every feeling that had awakened inside him away and focused on the book he was reading before he was interrupted by his sons. It was silent in the room for a few minutes as Felix focused on reading the words and the twins were making a small action scene with their toys.
"Hey boys?" Felix said and he heard small hums coming from the two, "if the weather is nice in a few days, do you want to go to the cove for some water time?" Michi and Ryu answered with lots of happy noises which Felix took for yeses. "Alright, hopefully, the water is clear by that time," Felix mumbles to himself as he knew how much Michi enjoyed looking for seashells in the shallow waters and if the tide was low enough, Ryu would go poke out the tide pools for starfish.
He's been pinched a couple of times by crabs but he's learned his lesson by now.
