As Felix woke up, something felt off in the air. He couldn't pinpoint what it was but it felt familiar and something in his gut told him to call his work. He stretched upwards and rubbed his eye as he pushed himself to sit up. He grabbed his phone and took it off the charger, unlocking his phone and going to his contacts. He found his boss's contact and pressed the call button, pressing it against his ear as he got out of bed.

It rang for a few seconds before the voice of his boss came through. "Good morning, Felix!" She exclaimed and Felix smiled. "Good morning," He replied, "is it possible for me to not come in today?" His boss instantly replied, "Is everything okay?" Felix hummed as he used his shoulder to keep his phone connected to his ear. "Yeah, I'm just not feeling well," He answered a soft gasps came from her lips. "Oh, please, take all the time you need! Feel better soon," She said and Felix smiled. "I will, have a good day," Felix said before the call ended.

Felix exhales and sets his phone on the counter to continue making his coffee. A couple of moments passed and he eventually heard a pair of footsteps coming down the hallway. Felix looked towards the archway and saw Michi was making his way down the hallway while a small blanket was gripped tightly in his hand. "Why are you up early?" Felix asks and Michi waddles over to him, lifting his arms up. Felix smiled and picked up the 3-year-old who hugged him tightly. "Ryu is noisy," Michi complained and Felix chuckles softly. "Does he make pig sounds," Felix said as he took the blanket from Michi's hand and set it on the counter.

Michi hummed as he nodded his head. "Does it sound like this?" Felix asks and pushes his nose against Michi and makes a single snort; Michi giggling. "Or..like this?" Felix switched to the other side of Michi's face and made another snorting noise, continuing to make the kid laugh. Felix stopped and placed the boy next to his blanket while he poured the heated liquid into a cup.

Felix leaned against the counter as he watched Michi mimic the noises Felix made which made the toddler laugh harder. Felix grabbed his phone from next to him and switched from taking a picture to recording the laughing session. He placed his phone down and cautiously watched the youngest who was slowly calming down. Michi calmed down and his head swiveled around, his eyes landing on Felix who smiled. "Was that funny?" Felix asks and Michi nodded his head as Felix walked over. "We're going to stay home today, mhm?" Felix said as he placed his lips against Michi's forehead who hummed.

Felix smoothed the boy's hair down and let the boy latch himself onto him. The adult finished his coffee and placed it into the sink, lifting Michi from the counter after wrapping him in his blanket. "Let's go snuggle in the living room," Felix said and Michi nodded his head quickly with a bright smile.

Felix carefully walked to the living room and sat down on the couch. Michi snuggled close to Felix who turned the TV on for a random show. "Papà," Michi mumbles and Felix hums, "when can we meet your friend?" Felix rubs his back as he switches between channels. "I don't know yet, I have to meet up with him first," Felix explains and the many encounters he's had with that person caused his heart to ache for lying. "Go back to sleep until your brother wakes up," Felix said and caressed his hair as his eyes focused on the TV screen.

Felix's eyes shifted from the TV to the glass door that showed the depressing world outside; dark, heavy clouds and the trees being shoved around by the wind. There weren't any kids, or people for that matter, walking to head to work or school. "Must be a bad storm," Felix said as his eyes went back to the TV; a wave of comfort washed over him. He loved storms, but Michi and Ryu didn't; especially thunder and lightning storms. Since they were in a new place, they didn't know how bad these storms were going to be; they could be the same as their hometown ones or worse.

The entire city was plunged into darkness.

A loud cry filled the quiet and dark apartment which made the adult who was reading a book, using the phone from his flashlight, look over to the direction of the hallway. "Michi and Ryu, it's okay," Felix said as a frown came onto his lips. He got up from the couch and walked to where the twins were thought to be located. His eyebrows furrowed as he saw they weren't in the room or the closet, a typical hiding place if they were scared.

He listened more as he walked further down the hallway, the crying getting closer as he got to his room. "It's louder in there," Felix said as he opened the door to his bedroom slowly. It opened fully and showed the twins pushed into a corner, gripping their stuffed animals with one of Felix's blankets wrapped around them. "Awe, it's okay," Felix cooed as he placed the flashlight onto the desk and walked over, getting onto the bed and scooping them up, kissing their foreheads and giving them a reassuring squeeze. "I-It loud," Michi sobbed as he attempted to hide into Felix's hoodie but the adult stopped him. "I know, I know, but it'll be over before you know it," Felix said as he set them on the bed.

They sniffled as they stared at the adult in front of them. "Papa?" Michi asks and Felix hums, kissing his head with a soft smile. "What is it?" He asks. "Do you..you have fun stories of meeting daddy?" Michi asks and Felix glances towards the darkened city. "I do, and they're very interesting," Felix said as they moved closer to him. "Really?" Ryu followed up and Felix hummed. "They are. What do you want me to tell first?"

Felix didn't want to tell the stories as most of them he was either going to have to change to not scare the twins, or he'll be able to keep them the same.
