The Lost Tower I — Hanai Gaiden

Hanai graduated from the academy with average scores, joining a 3-genin team of herself, Might Gai, and Genma Shiranui. The team is led by Choza-sensei, a jonin-level shinobi from the Akimichi Clan.

Everyone got along. Genma Shiranui was a student in a different class than Gai and Hanai, luckily their personalities instantly clicked like a puzzle. Choza's caring and stern nature made him their perfect Sensei. His great wisdom and understanding of the world, allowed him to understand everyone's own perspective of what it means to be a Shinobi.

Through his guidance and the influence of her team, Hanai began to listen to her own voice. A kunoichi treated like an outcast because of her looks wanted to be accepted, trusted, and loved by the village.

Choza-sensei also has a large appetite and is prone to eating everything on a menu's page. The kids found it amazing and appreciated Choza always treating them to meals. Today was no exception, the grand opening of Ichiraku offered 1/2 Priced Ramen. Hanai, Asuma, Gai, and Shizune are waiting together in the long line. Choza Sensei was suddenly called to the Hokage office, so they all are currently waiting without him.

"I can't wait to eat Ramen!" Shizune has a large smile, her small hands in the air.

"Mr. Teuchi's gutsy noodles! And soup for the soul!" Gai shouted. "I'm going to enjoy it with all my heart and soul!"

"To impact hidden flavors, that too is the Will of Fire." Asuma nodded, a lollipop in his mouth.

"Um...we're going to eat ramen with body parts?" Hanai had misunderstood Gai's words, the idea of ramen with a human heart crossed her mind, grossing her out.

Everyone sweatdropped, Hanai had her moments where she either took metaphors literally or she misunderstood a word being said in a sentence.

"Baka." a voice barked from behind the two tallest teams, Hanai and Asuma. "Hmph! All this excitement just for ramen!"

Gai explained to Hanai what he really meant by his words, as Shizune scolded Kakashi. "You're the one to talk to Kakashi! You're also in line to eat!"

The moment Kakashi spotted his blonde-sensei, he left the group. "Minato-sensei! A mission?"

The four turned their heads, spotting Minato-sensei. They couldn't hear over various conversations between the people in the long line.

"Yes, we assemble now. Is Hanai with you?" Minato Sensei askes the kid.

"Oh, she's with them." he points at the girl standing with the other three.

As Gai and Kakashi yelled at one another, Minato-sensei headed his way towards the pale-haired kunoichi. "Hanai, you've been requested by Choza-Sensei to join this mission as well."

"Hah!" Gai shouted, growing increasingly jealous. His own sensei had chosen Hanai over him.

"Oh, okay!" Hanai nods, stepping out of the line. "When I'm back, you got to tell me all about this heart ramen!"

Asuma chuckles at her way at words. "We will." Hanai's personality made the three forget about Kakashi's rude comments.

The two Genin meet up with Choza-sensei and Shibi Aburame, another Jonin shinobi. On the way to a kingdom surrounded by desert in the Land of Wind,  no one bothered to explain the mission to the two. All Minato had done was stress that they needed to arrive as quickly as possible.
