Stormy Waters — Hanai Gaiden

        Hanai and Kakashi had decided to keep what happened a secret, he took the blame for killing the Chunin-Proctor. Taking her right hand, he spoke for her throughout the interrogation. The sensei and the Hokage knew it was a lie and decided they would continue to look into the incident behind the shadows. 

        And it was like that for the rest of the month. Both teams never spoke of the incident, the looming confusion of what had happened was ignored as they passed to the third round.

        The soft light of the moon was in sight, as she walked home. Unfamiliar smells halted her steps, spotting an emotionless creature. It was Shiro, the rabbit that lives in her garden. She grew increasingly worried when she realized that the rabbit had not moved a muscle. 

        Shaky hands, as she discovered that Shiro was flat dead. It dropped heavy, as she held it with both hands. Dried blood stained its fur coat.

        Suddenly everything felt cold. The mist, her mouth, her fingertips. She felt the hair on her neck spike up, eyes zoning into the wide-open back door that led to her home. 

        Dropping Shiro to the ground, she sprinted inside. Her feet touching a warm liquid, unexpected, she slipped. "Ah!" she yelled, falling onto the warm substance. It took her a second to recollect her composure, as her vision adjusted. 

        She raised her hand, wondering what she had slipped on as it soaked her hair and clothes. The water is running, she concluded, as the faucet was indeed making noise. The sink was overflowing onto the floor creating a puddle, inside the kitchen...but she wasn't inside the kitchen.

        She raised her hand over her face, stiffening at the sight. The thick-red substance dripped through her thin fingers. Her pulse quickened, a stream of tears dropped in vain, shattered by the silent murder of her family. 

        Blood. 

        The last thing she heard was the hiss of a snake as something suddenly constricted her neck before her mind went dark.

        The third round of the Chunin Exams had begun, yet Hanai wasn't in sight. The finals are one-on-one tournament battles, with the first battle: Might Gai vs Obito Uchiha. It wasn't till Kakashi walked up to Genma and Choza-sensei asking about Hanai's whereabouts, that a search party was sent. Kakashi had been the last to see her, having trained together for the Chunin Exams till the last living sunlight.

        Under the orders of Danzo, they have been killed. An elder of Konohagakure and the founder and leader of Root, a branch of the ANBU organization that tried to kill Hanai during the Second Round of the Chunin Exams. Danzō is known as The Darkness of the Shinobi because of his unsanctioned actions and his often-suspected undermining of specific Konoha personnel. Despite his decades of suspicious deeds, Danzō had yet to be stopped. 

        Danzo had discovered that the family possessed a kekkei genkai that many wanted for their own, or wanted to destroy. He couldn't risk the safety of the village for a family of outsiders. The Sandaime Hokage was already foolish enough to accept them in the village, even after knowing their true inheritance. Yet the girl had slipped under him again. 

        So the moment Orochimaru appeared before him, with Hanai's unconscious body, Danzo knew who it was that interfered. One of Konohagakure's legendary Sannin, with a life-ambition to learn all of the world's secrets. A twisted personality, causing conflict to ease his boredom, with fascination in Kekkai Genkai's. His appearance was that of a snake, very pale skin, golden eyes with slitted pupils, purple markings around his eyes, and fang-like teeth. He also has pronounced cheekbones and straight waist-length black hair with some locks covering and framing his face. "So it was you."
