A few days before the Chunin Exams, spectators and shinobi from across the world made their way to Konoha. All the teams that registered for the Chunin Exams, prepare themselves for what is to come in the first week of July, and Team Seven is no other exception...at least they tried to.
"Huh? What do you mean you're busy!" Naruto screeches at his sensei. Kakashi advertised his gaze as he scratches the back of his head awkwardly. The three kids glare at him.
Letting out a small chuckle he speaks, "As I said...I'm busy."
"But Kakashi-sensei! Reading that book of yours is not being busy!" Sakura squeals, just as agitated as the rest.
"Yeah!" Naruto agrees.
Kakashi sighs as he hangs his head, "The cute girl I helped out last week wants to—"
"Liar!" the three shout, disbelief. Kakashi is constantly late to their meetings, spouting nonsense and unbelievable situations that happen to make him late. There's also his love of erotic fiction and his unique rivalry with Might Gai. That's all there is to him, the students at least believe, so there is no way Kakashi is busy.
"If you must know, I'm hanging out with an old friend."
"Kakashi-sensei, you don't have any friends—ya know." Naruto barks.
The Jonin leader sighs at the three child-like stubbornness. He watches them argue, as they insult each other in response to his rejection in training them a day before the Chunin Exams. Kakashi had given them the day off, so the three can rest up their bodies and minds, in preparation for the intense exam. Instead, the three have cornered him on his way to meet with a friend.
"Look, I really have to go..." Kakashi mutters, walking around the three. It took the kids a hot minute to realize Kakashi has left them behind, turning the corner at the end of the street.
"Kakashi-sensei!" they roar, energies in sync as they rush towards the silver-hair teacher.
Delicate white lashes blink curiously at the trio, she leans to the side to get a view of the kids who pounce on Kakashi. The blonde collided with Kakashi's back. "Oh, it's you three!" she beams.
"It's the Head of the Chunin Exams!" Sakura, the pink-hair kunoichi, identified in awe.
Naruto is on the ground, massaging his nose. He wore a bright orange suit with blue and white accents. "Oh...Hina right?"
"It's Hanai-sama, you idiot!" Sakura shouts, punching the blonde's skull.
She giggles, amuse by Sakura scolding Naruto for being rude to a pretty lady. Sasuke, the stoic-looking one, didn't say a word, his thoughts collecting his fight with Lee. He had lost to a shinobi who couldn't use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, the fight had been stopped by Lee's teacher, Gai-sensei. Hanai had been watching the fight, and none of the kids noticed her.
Everyone's mind clicks as they recall the day they meet Hanai and Gai-sensei.
"You guys know Kakashi?" Sasuke asks coolly as if he wasn't just beat up.
Hanai cold- lips, curl into a smile, "We know him all too well, don't you agree Gai?"
Gai chuckles, a hand goes under his chin. "People call us...eternal rivals," he says dramatically, his teeth sparkling at the trio.
