Sam arrives at the gym with a fire in her eyes. It didn't take all but about five minutes for Max to text back and agree to meet her at the gym.
"Woah, lookout. Someone looks pissed off." Max comments when Sam comes out of the locker rooms.
"Damn right I am," Sam growls, her foul mood evident on her sour face. "My dad is an insufferable asshole."
"And what did dear old dad say this time?" Max asks her curiously but makes sure to give Sam some space.
"What hasn't he done?" Sam scoffs. "All my life the man has been nothing but a thorn in my side. He's got four kids, but god forbid he bothers one of them instead of being obsessed with me."
"Well, that's what you have me for." Max walks over to Sam and puts a hand on her shoulder. "So we can both make your dad's life a living hell." He assures her.
"Yeah, thanks, Max." Sam nods, her anger subsiding a bit. "Let's just get to work! I am not losing my match tomorrow." She grits her teeth.
"I heard that it was against Diamante, she's good. But not as good as you are." Max replies.
"No one is as good as me." Sam shakes her head, a determined look on her face.
"That's the spirit, Sam!" Max claps his hands with a pleased smile. "Let's get started."
Max helps Sam go over her basics one more time just so they are really drilled into her head. He also helps her out with a few more complicated pointers and tips that she can use against Diamante come Monday night.
His plan is working perfectly. Sam is becoming angrier and more hell-bent on making Jericho's life miserable by the day. All Max has to do is keep making sure that he's always on Sam's side, and she's bound to do most of the heavy lifting for him.
Plus there's the added bonus that it turns out Sam is actually all kinds of fun. When he first met Sam a couple of years ago, Max never imagined that she'd be so stubborn and naturally gifted. But she is.
"Whew, okay! I think that it's safe to say that you're ready." Max huffs after a couple of hours.
"Good." Sam breathes harshly as well.
Both of them agree to call it a day since Sam doesn't want to overdo it the night before she debuts. Max agrees and they part ways to change in their respective locker rooms. When Sam comes back out Max is there waiting for her.
"Wardlow has a match tomorrow on the show, so I'll see you there." Max goes to say his goodbye to Sam.
"Great! You can get a front-row seat to watch me beat Diamante's ass then. Along with everyone else." Sam flashes a mischievous grin.
"Atta girl." Max chuckles. "Embrace that evil and sadistic demon I know is in there." He teases her.
"Whatever." Sam rolls her eyes. "Bye, Maxwell." She waves to Max before she leaves.
When Sam arrives at home she finds a package waiting on her doorstep for her. She grabs it off of the porch and brings it inside.
"Right on time." Sam grins to herself as she sets the package down on her counter and pulls it open.
Inside sits the brand new ring gear that Sam helped design and ordered for herself. The colors are mainly black with a few subtle purple accents. The gear consists of pants that are distressed with some holes for aesthetics, a pair of boots that are laced in the front, and a low dip crop top. Sam takes the gear out of the package and tries it on in her bedroom. Once it's on she admires herself in the mirror and snaps a pic for a keepsake.
