The next morning Sam is up with the sun and heads out to the gym that most of the AEW talent frequent. She arrives just a few minutes after it opens and finds the place to be relatively empty.

"Okay, first day as an official pro wrestler." Sam talks to herself in the empty woman's locker rooms while she gets changed.

When Sam gets back out to the main gym floor a few more people have arrived. She doesn't immediately recognize anyway so she just puts her headphones in and decides to start with a few sets of squats.

Sam gets to the middle of her fourth set of squats when she sees a familiar head of dirty blond hair at the front desk. Chris swipes his card at the desk and locks eyes with his eldest daughter for a split second.

"Wow." Sam scoffs to herself when Chris breaks his gaze and acts as if he didn't see Sam at all.

The rest of The Inner Circle members soon file in after Chris and only Sammy gives Sam a small wave as he passes her. Her anger boiling up again at her father's childish antics Sam proceeds over to the heavy bags in the corner of the room.

"Whoa there, gorgeous. I think he's had enough." Sam stops her assault on the red bag when a hand commands it to a stop.

Pulling her headphones out of her ear with an annoyed sigh Sam steps off to the side of the bag to find Max once again in her way.

"I'm kinda busy right now. Can I help you with something, Maxwell?" Sam asks him with an expert roll of her eyes.

"I can see that." Max chuckles at her. "You were really giving this thing a hard time. Who managed to royally piss you off sweetheart?" He presses Sam for details.

"What's it to you?" Sam scoffs. "And right now the only one pissing me off is you." She warns him.

"Wow, harsh words." Max throws his hands up in defense with another chuckle. "I don't bite princess. Promise." He insists with that shit-eating signature grin of his.

"Again Max, what do you want?" Sam asks him again.

Max starts to make a reply but shuts up when Sam's expression changes from mildly annoyed to royally pissed off in an instant. He slightly turns his head to see who Sam is giving the death glare and watches Chris pass by with the rest of the Inner Circle.

"Hey, why aren't you hanging out with dorky ass Jericho and his second-rate goons?" Max turns back to Sam.

"None of your business." Sam snaps back at him.

It doesn't take a genius for someone to put the pieces together on why Sam wouldn't be hanging out with her dad. And Max puts it together almost instantly, the wheels in his head churning out ideas at high speed.

"Oh." Max nods his head with a small hint of a grin. "Chris Jericho disowns his own daughter for wanting to be just like him. Huh? Wow, now that's a headline." He lets a laugh fall from his lips.

"Shove it, Maxwell!" Sam grits her teeth, letting her viable anger hide that twinge of hurt that lingers in her chest.

"Whoa, calm down princess." Max puts his hands up again. "I was just pointing out how fucked up that is. I mean I've always known Chris to be an egomaniac. But his own daughter? That's harsh."

"No shit." Sam rolls her eyes again. "You wanna get in your five minutes of shitty jokes? Or can I go back to my workout?" She scoffs with annoyance.

"Go ahead." Max takes a step back from here. "But listen, if you ever wanna channel all those strikingly obvious daddy issues more healthily. The boys and I are usually working out on the second floor." He offers Sam.
