Sam's heart sinks at the sight of Chris standing on the top of the ramp. There are only a select few times in her life that she's ever seen that look on his face. And it scares her.

"Sammy, what the hell is this?" Wardlow is quick to pull Sam away from Guevara.

"It's not us." Sammy puts his hands up in defense. "I swear it." He insists.

"Yeah, Chris stormed off earlier in the night." Santana backs him up.

"It's alright, Wardlow." Sam steps back forward. "He's telling the truth. And if I know my dad. He's definitely acting alone." She trusts Sammy once again.

"Thanks, Sam." Guevara nods as thanks for not sicking Wardlow after him on a whim.

"No problem." Sam nods. "But what are we going to do about him?" She nods to Chris still at the top of the ramp.

"He's my responsibility." Sam sighs. "I should be the one to handle it." She insists. "I can handle it."

Sammy nods and lets Sam take the lead on this impromptu negotiation. Before she speaks Sam takes a moment to collect her thoughts. As she's thinking she glances out into the crowd at her mom. Jessica sits in her chair, glaring at Chris like she's about half a second away from jumping the barricade and beating Chris's ass herself.

"Is this really how it's going to be dad?" Sam finally speaks up. "Look at yourself! You're all alone up there. No one wants to do this anymore. We're all done with this petty rivalry." She pleads with her dad the best that she can.

"It's not over until I say it is." Chris fumes. "I can't believe you, Samantha! Tell me, where the hell did I go wrong with you. How did it end up like this?" He asks her.

"I'd shut your mouth if I were you, Christopher. " Max comes out the opposite tunnel before Sam can get another word in. "The only thing you ever did wrong was believing that Sam here is anything short of absolutely amazing." He walks up to Chris with his microphone in hand. "Take a look at her Chris. She's been in the business for under a year, and she's already more popular than you'll ever be." He gestures to Sam.

"Actually, Sam. I know where it all went wrong." Chris turns to Max. "This gentlemen right here is where it all went wrong. I should have put your ass in the dirt a long time ago, Max." Chris glares at him. "You managed to corrupt my daughter into becoming a bigger disappointment than anything I ever could have imagined."

"I helped your daughter reach her potential, Chris. Don't blame me because you're too much of a selfish piece of shit to admit that your daughter is and always will be better than you. I just gave her the encouragement that she needed. I reminded her that she doesn't need anyone's help to be great. And that scares the hell out of you." Max voices his reply as he advances towards Chris.

Max's genuine words of admiration and adoration put butterflies in Sam's stomach. If you would have told her 7 months ago that she'd be standing in the middle of a wrestling ring while MJF of all people poured his heart out in defense of her against her father, she'd of called you crazy.

Never. Never in her life, Sam would have ever guessed that Max fucking Freidman would be the man that would steal her heart. That she'd ever let herself fall in love with someone like him. But here she is. And she's in love. No doubt about it.

"Wardlow, do me a favor and go get my mom. Before security does." In Sam's moment of pure adoration for Max, she managed to notice her fuming mother at the barricade. "She's the pissed-off-looking blonde in the front row." She briefly nods to Jessica.

"Alright." Wardlow nods and slips out of the ring.

"I'm going up there. Before the two of them start trading blows." Sam informs everyone else.

"I'll come too." Sammy steps by her side. "Come on." He parts the ropes so he and Sam can both make their way up the ramp.

Sam and Guevara barely make it to the floor when Chris takes a swing at Max. Max of course defends himself, and the fight is on.

"Fuck, hurry up." Sam darts up the ramp with Sammy at her heels.

Sam makes a B-line for Max who happens to be the one on top at the moment. But by the time she makes it up the ramp Chris has turned things around.

"Knock it off!" Sam screeches at Chris as he reigns down punches on Max.

Sammy makes it to Sam's side and goes to pry Chris off of Max. Chris resists and refuses to move, Sammy not enough to get ahold of him. Thankfully Jake comes up the ramp and is enough to pull Chris off of Max and yank him away.

As soon as there is some room Sam darts between the two men and shields Max from taking any further damage at the hands of her dad. And with Sam wedged between them, Jericho is fended off long enough for security to finally arrive from backstage.

"Max? Holy shit, are you okay?" Sam turns back to Max as soon as Chris is away.

"I'm fine." Max insists. "Barely even feel a thing." He insists.

"I'm gonna kill him. God, I am so done." Sam shakes her head.

You can damn near feel the anger radiating from Sam now. And this isn't dep seeded daddy issues anger like before. No. This is genuine rage and anger for what Chris has done. Max senses Sam's anger and grabs her arm before she can stomp off to follow security.

"Don't." He warns her. "Kicking his ass won't change anything, babe. No matter how much you want it to." Max reminds her as he pulls her into his side.

"Your boyfriend is right you know." Jessica comes up the ramp with Wardlow just at the opportune moment to bestow some killer motherly advice on her daughter. "You leave your moronic father to me, sweetie." She rubs Sam's arm. "As for you, Max. Well, I knew I liked you from the moment we met. And tonight just proves my point. Thank you for sticking up for, Sam. Even though she can do it herself." Jessica thanks, Max.

"No problem ma'am." Max nods. "I'll always have your daughters back. And I know that she's got mine." He adds.

"What are you gonna do about, dad?" Sam asks Jessica.

"Nothing that you need to worry about, honey." Jessica shakes her head again. "You just take your boyfriend and go get him cleaned up."

"I don't know, I think he looks kind of cute all covered in blood." Sam jokes with a small smile.

"Yeah, you're definitely my daughter." Jessica laughs. "Take care you two, and it was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Wardlow." She turns to Wardlow standing off to the side silently.

"Pleasure was all mine, ma'am." Wardlow nods with a smile.

"She's still married, Wardlow." Sam shakes her head with a laugh. "You know I don't know whether I should be angry or turned on at you." She turns back to Max.

"Well, why don't you kiss me and decide after?" Max grins at her.

Sam rolls her eyes but kisses Max anyway, knowing that she could never really be angry at him for what he did. Sticking up for her like that.

AN// The story is winding down to a close as of now. But the question is. Is Chris going to get redemption for his behavior? What do you guys think? Is he gonna change his ways and makeup with Sam and Max? Let me know what Y'all think.
