Down at the archery fields I was practicing my shot. But I just kept hitting bullseyes.
I groaned and grabbed my bow and arrows heading back to my cabin to put them away.
On my way back to the cabin I ran into Reyna from Camp Jupiter.
"Good afternoon, Praetor," I nodded to her respectfully.
"Good afternoon to you as well, lieutenant. How are you today?"
"Ugh, bored. I have nothing to do."
"Would you like to come with me on a hunt of sorts?"
"I'm intrigued. Explain."
"Well, I'm planning on taking a short bus ride trip and then a small hike to a patch of in the middle of nowhere abandoned woods where, if my research is correct, an ancient creature lives. I'm not looking to hurt the creature just to track it down and see what else might come about my path."
"Are you allowed to leave without permission?"
"Yes, Lupia...she isn't really around like Chiron. One of the things I find nice about your camp. I like the warmth and strength of your hearth, metaphorically. Anyway, especially since I'll be traveling with someone who comes and goes as they please to places it will be no problem at all. Plus, I'm the strongest female warrior in Camp Jupiter, we'll be okay."
I smiled at the girl, admiring her drive and confidence and...her eyes...
And despite having no clue what was about to happen. I nodded.
*oouuuuu ~spicy~ time skip*
Reyna and I sat at the bus stop waiting for what felt like forever before I finally said "fuck it" and took out a drachma to summon the Gray Sister's.
Besides, a taxi driven by three witches from greek mythology would give us a much more direct path to where ever we are headed.
"So, how did you find out you were a demigod?" I asked Reyna.
She sighed, "That's complicated. Long story short my family had always been blessed by Bellona, but me and my sister were the first children she conceived with a family member. Hylla, my older sister, lived in this huge estate. There was a prophecy about keeping the bloodline which was told to my father. He went crazy, becoming a mania and we had to escape, I killed my father and ran. Ended up on Circe's island as handmaidens, it got destroyed. My sister became an Amazon, and I came to Camp Jupiter. What about you?"
I bit my lip, "Also complicated. My mother was able to catch Zeus' attention and they had me. My mom thought she was the shit. The best mortal ever cause she caught his attention. She continued to demand things from him and started going nuts, got driven to alcoholism and started doing crazy stunts to be noticed. It ruined her acting career. When I was ten years old something happened while I was at the car grabbing a picnic basket and I remember being really upset. My mother was too and I was so mad I ran away. Eventually when I was 12 I met another demigod. Luke Castellan. He was 14 and became my best friend. We joined forces cause he too had run from his crazy mother. We fought monster's together. Eventually, we got caught in a trap. It was a mansion, we'd been lured there by a son of Apollo so we would die. We were locked in and at sunrise we would be eaten. I convinced Halcyon, Apollo's son, to send the monster's away so we could talk. I discovered we been lured to find a treasure. Luke, being a Son of Hermes, unlocked the chest and we got a silver bracelet, the one I'm wearing. We did not know how to activate it though. Eventually, Luke figured out how to activate the bracelet and we ended up escaping and we met Annabeth in a trash can. We all joined forces and met up with Grover and got to Camp Half-Blood...but I got killed and turned into a tree and then many years later I was revived by the Golden Fleece, cause I guess someone found it and the rest is history."
Reyna looked a bit confused and then asked, "Wait, who is Grover?"
"He's my—um, wow, actually, I uh..I don't know. I must've confused a name." I shrugged. Although, for some reason I felt like Grover was a name of someone I knew.
Reyna proceeded to shrug her shoulders as well and spoke, "Damn, us demigods for through some traumatic shit getting to safety," Reyna looked at me and we couldn't hold our laughter.
"Yeah, and when we are safe and our parents don't need us, we're ungrateful cause we're bored. But then the second they need us to do something we hate them all over again for using us to clean up their messes. What a shitty cycle, I hope to god if I ever somehow have children they don't feel like we did," I sighed. Then thought for a moment, "Oh my goodness, my whole life I've hated my father and I finally just explained it all out and realized how fucking selfish and needy everyone including ourselves and our parents are."
"We all take one another for granted because the gods believe they are entitled cause their powerful but then we're half human and half god, so we have that nag telling us we're entitled cause we have powers and then the regular human selfishness and instinct thinking we're better than everyone even though we all make the same shitty mistakes everyday and act like we're the only ones who don't."
"Okay Ms. Philosopher. You sure your Bellona's daughter and not like Apollo's or something?"
"Oh, I'm very sure. I hate poetry."
We made eye contact and started bursting out into fits of laughter again.
