Chapter 19 Wheels in motion

EMILYS POV

My feet are sore and my back is killing me, walking a mall at seven months pregnant with an excited teenager is tough. Anissa is enjoying going from store to store, but I need a rest. I take a seat on the bench outside of a gap, to rest my legs. Keeping up with Anissa is hard, but everything is going as planned. On the way to the mall Anissa and I made a deal that she wouldn't discuss anything we talk about with anyone. I told her that if she could keep our secrets then I would get her to the art competition.

Steve was the one who came up with the idea to use the art show. He feels if we keep bringing it up and using it, Anissa will do anything to get to it. Now that I know Anissa won't tell Dave things that we talk about, it's time to start brining out the real Anissa.

Are you ready to go to another store?

Anissa I need a break honey, I just want to sit here for a few minutes

Okay no problem, is the baby kicking?

No I'm just tired. Did you find anything in the store that you liked?

Yeah a sweet jean jacket, but it cost $150.00

Did you get it?

No, I don't have that kind of money

That never stopped you before

Are you talking about stealing it?

Anissa I am your mother, but also a person. I know how much it stinks to want something that you can't have. I am just saying if there is something you really want, then you should find a way to get it.

I would get in so much trouble though

By who? I told you what happens when we are together stays between you and I 

You wouldn't tell dad?

Of course not. We have our little secrets right?

As your mother, I won't say to steal it, I will just say that I may look the other way if it somehow got in you possession 

Your seriously the coolest parent ever

I know

Maybe I should ask dad first though, he would probably just buy it for me, instead of me taking it

True, but if he says no, then you really can't get it. If he says no, and then you end up with the jacket, he will know something is up

Your right, but I am nervous. I haven't done this in a long time

She laughs

I watch Anissa go back into the store. I hope she doesn't get caught. I want Dave to realize he isn't the perfect father, but I don't want my daughter getting arrested. My biggest fear with this plan was Anissa getting into trouble, but like Steve said "she doesn't get punished by Dave and we won't punish her, so there is nothing to worry about. The law is a big worry for me, but Anissa has had a lot of practice stealing with the brood. I wait anxiously until I see Anissa coming out of the store. I notice right away that she isn't carrying anything, but she has a huge smile on her face.

That was fast. Did you get it?

Of course

You did? Where is it?

I cant pull it out right in front of the store

I laugh

Come on let's get out of here, and grab some lunch
