Chapter 26 Change of plans

STEVES POV

I cant believe how easy that was. In less then ten minutes we got an eight thousand dollar check from Dave. Maybe I been looking at this Anissa situation completely wrong. Instead of being upset with dealing with her antics, maybe I can turn them around in my favor. I still don't like her disrespect, but I can work with that.

I smile over at Emily and grab her hand

What's wrong honey?

Did you see Anissas face? She looked like she was scared when Dave told her to go to her room.

So?

I don't want her getting into any real trouble because of us

Emily what are you worried about? So she gets grounded or yelled at, big deal. With everything we have been through because of her, we deserve some form of compensation. 

She doesn't deserve to be grounded because of us

She isn't really, you pick her up everyday and take her places, so she isn't grounded

That's true

I think we can really use this to our advantage 

What do you mean?

Well look at it, if we can convince Anissa to tell a few lies, or to steal from a few more people, we could use that as a way to make a killing from Dave. 

Steve I don't want Anissa getting arrested

It wouldn't be real stuff

Emily looks at me confused

Let's say for example that you ask Anissa to take a friends wallet. We can make sure it's a dummy wallet and there isn't anything in it, but we tell Dave it was loaded with cash.

How is any of this going to help us win custody back?

I thought of that also. If we can prove that Anissa hasn't changed under Dave's supervision we would have a chance of getting her back right?

Yeah?

So let's make the proof

How?

The biggest issue was Anissa taking off, so we can get the police report that Dave filed of her running off on her own. We can also have her come here a few times without Dave knowing. This shows he doesn't have full control of her. 

How can we do that?

We can think of a few things, but we would have to do it before we go back to Ohio. Once we are home we will file an emergency order for temporary custody. If you can convince Anissa to comeback with us, we can say she ran to us from Australia.

What if she contacts Dave?

You can tell Dave that Anissa came to Ohio without us knowing, and we will keep her until he gets back from Australia. He will think nothing of it and we can be sneaky, and tell the court that he is to busy to come get Anissa, which will look like he is neglecting her.

That's not a bad idea

It's perfect, but we need to start spending as much time with Anissa as possible, to convince her to come back with us to Ohio. We can use the damn brood if we have to. 

Great idea

All the minor stuff like, stealing, mouthing off, lying, and her tantrums we keep a track of to use at the custody hearing. Find ways for her to talk shit on Dave and get it on a text somehow. Have her write an escape plan to Ohio, anything to use against Dave
