It had been three days since me and Guy went on our date. We haven't talked about what we are yet but we've both been flirty. I was nervous to see if I had ruined anything on our first date. I didn't think I did. He could be thinking something else.
Yesterday we spent one of our last relaxing days just sleeping. I think I slept from midnight to noon, then watched TikTok and highlight reels, then napped from 2:30 to 5:45. It felt good just being able to rest. Not worrying about any drama.
My bruise was halfway cleared up and didn't hurt as much. I was okay with Dylan and Sierra. The only thing I did worry about was what me and Guy were.
The team went out for dinner last night and we all realized that we all slept. Charlie wasn't so happy about it since he wanted us to get a workout in. But he slept too.
Today we had our second to last practice. I was all ready to go, I was just waiting on the girls to finish doing their hair. They were both straightening it. I had let mine fall loosely over my shoulders. Connie was dressed in a black ensemble, while Julie was wearing her Team USA hoodie under a pair of white overalls. I was going to question their style choices but I could do that soon. We still had about a half hour till we had to leave so we weren't rushing.
We were listening to the music when someone knocked on the door. I got off my bed and shuffled my feet towards it. I wasn't in much of a hurry to get there.
I opened it with ease, once it was open I saw that Guy, Dean, and Luis stood in front of me.
"Hey guys, what's up?" I let them in.
They all stepped in, "We just wanted to walk with you guys." Guy said.
With Sierra and Dylan out on the town all the beds were open to sit on and I saw that Dean went straight to Julie. I wondered if they were something but I could always ask her later.
Guy sat on my bed and I sat down next to him. He put his arm around me and I felt my stomach explode with butterflies.
"So are you two a thing now?" Luis asked. I have never been more happy in my life. Finally someone asked.
I looked at Guy.
He looked down at me.
He smiled, "I mean we never really talked about it. But . . ."
"But?" Julie questioned.
He set his head on mine, "I don't know what she wants."
I rolled my eyes cause he was talking like I wasn't there.
The girls noticed. Julie stood up and patted her legs. "Well! We'll let you guys decide and we'll meet you at practice."
With that the four of them left. Leaving an awkward silence that we had never experienced together.
I looked up at him to see he was already looking at me. His eyes sparkled from the reflection of the sun. A shy smile was painted onto his face.
He removed his arm from around me and put his hand together with mine. I shifted so my body was faced towards him. He did the same.
"Lyndon." he broke the silence.
"Yes, Guy?"
He took a deep breath.
"I have really, really, really liked you. Since the day we met. Even when I was with Connie I knew that you would be different from everyone else. And in a good way! You were so unique from everyone and I don't know if it's because you were a softball player or because you have the most gorgeous smile I had ever seen. But from the plane ride, to staying with me when Connie cheated, to just talking me through stuff. Even wanting to just know more about me. No one has ever been like that before. And because of that the feelings I have for you are so huge and not a day goes by where I don't think about you. I mean some of the team doesn't even know about my dad. I trust you with that, so now that we're here and alone I was wondering, maybe. If you would possibly want to be my girlfriend? Only if you want to though, I don't want to pressure you into anything you aren't ready for-"
I pressed my finger to his mouth.
"I'd love too."
He put his arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I sat in his arms for what felt like forever. It was a feeling I never wanted to lose.
I felt safe with him. Like nothing would ever hurt me if I was in his arms.
He planted a kiss on my forehead, "You have no idea how long I've wanted to ask you that."
"I am so happy you did."
