It had only been 3 hours since you were left alone but it felt a lot more like 3 days. You were bored out of your mind. You'd already looked around several times to find a possible escape route but you got the same result every time. Nothing.

You walked back over to the chair in the middle of the room that you were tied to earlier and sat back down. As if on queue the door opened. The scientist from earlier walked back in with a plate of food being dragged in on a silver trolley. You were relieved, you couldn't remember the last time you ate. You'd lost track of time. All you knew was that you hadn't had a decent meal since the moment you stepped on the quinjet ready for your mission. He pulled the trolley over to your side bringing the food into better view. A simple cheese sandwich. You were hungry don't get me wrong, but cheese wasn't something you were keen on so you decided against eating it. Letting your stubborn self starve instead.

"Calmed down yet?" He asked you. Sitting back in the chair across from you for the third time now. "Because I never finished my explanation."

"How come you haven't tied me back up yet?" You found yourself wondering not being in too much of a rush to find out what he had to say as you knew you were more than likely gonna be locked up for a while.

"We only tied you up the first time because we knew you'd go savage and try and escape, besides you can't hurt me anyway yet. Not until we supply you with your new powers."

"What do you mean new powers?" You asked slowly, dreading the answer.

"See...we've all agreed you need a bit of an upgrade. You've become rusty."

Rude.

"So.. we've come up with a new substance. It's nothing major. It just boosts your current powers. And adds some additional ones."

"What do you mean additional ones?"

"Well. Heightened emotions, making you a lot stronger than before when you're angry. Your reflexes will improve drastically. Plus you'll be twice more powerful. So really I'm doing you a favour."

"And if I don't want any of that?"

"What makes you think you have a choice?" He looked at you sinisterly walking back over to the tray where your food was. Picking up a gun you hadn't noticed was there. Along with a needle. But a lot bigger than the one Sophie used to knock you out and filled with a blue substance this time instead.

"Now. Sit still and this won't hurt a bit." He put the gun against your temple. "And if you try anything, I'll blow your brains out."

You thought better than to try and break free knowing you'd die on the spot.

"Don't panic but we've never actually done this before. So you could die." He laughed as if he just told you he was buying you a new dog.

Panic started to occur throughout your body. But you didn't have any time to try and break free before the alarms were ringing around you and red lights were flashing and the next thing you know he slammed the needle in your arm. Applying pressure on the plunger. The substance running into your arm and travelling through you. You went dizzy and felt as if you were floating. And the last thing you saw before you passed out again was Natasha bolting the door down, looking beyond pissed and the scientist falling onto you after she shot him 4 times, it all happening too fast for him to teleport.

*2 Hours Later*

You woke up with a banging headache and your throat feeling as dry as ever. Looking around you realised you were back in your hotel room, the redhead sat right next to you. You were in her bed. She must have carried you out of there after taking down the base. Concern was written all over her face. But she soon pulled a more stern look as soon as you had laid eyes on her. You groaned and sat up, rubbing your temples.

"Running off with some stranger? Real smart." She scolded.

You knew this was coming.

"Can you please just save the shouting and arguing for later. I'm not in the mood." You tried to stand up before dropping back onto the bed, your legs feeling like jelly.

"Steady there soldier," Natasha warned you whilst helping you get comfy again.

"Can I have some water, please? I'd erm, I'd get it myself but I can't feel my legs." You chuckled nervously.

"Sure." She stood up going into the kitchen and walking back in with your water in hand, passing it to you.

"Thank you." You took the water from her. Finishing it in 3 big gulps.

"It's erm- it's okay."

"No seriously. Thank you." Your voice went soft, a new side of you you were showing Natasha.

"What?" She furrowed her eyebrows at you, clearly shocked by your kindness.

"You erm- you kinda saved me back there. I don't know how much longer I had until I would've gone crazy in that place."

"Well, it was kind of the reason we're here in the first place. To take down the base." She tried to argue, not letting her guard down. But was struggling with the look you were giving her. So she gave in. "You're welcome."

You smiled softly at her. "And I'm sorry. I just needed to clear my head last night. I didn't even realise how much I'd had to drink. I wasn't thinking straight, getting into the car with her."

"It's okay. Really." She smiled back. "It was a rough day for the both of us I think."

You were about to reply until you were cut off by a coughing fit. Worry lacing Natasha's features as you began to cough up blood. You stopped eventually and she immediately told you to lay back down practically pouring the water down your throat. Until she looked at your eyes, her mouth gaping open and her not knowing what to do.

"Your erm- your eyes." She nodded towards them. "They're red."

"What?" You panicked.

"Y/N, what did they do to you in there?"

"Nothing. Not that I know of." You blurted out. Not wanting her to worry about you.

"Well, then why are your eye-"

"I don't know Natasha. They just are okay." You cut her off not wanting to play 21 questions right now. "I'm hungry. I'm gonna order some food. Do you want anything?"

"I already ate. Thanks." And with that, she left you alone in the bed to do your own thing. Going to watch TV in the living room.

She knew you were lying. You just didn't know what to tell her without her making a big fuss out of it.
