You knocked on Nat's bedroom door and was met with silence for a few seconds. You assumed she'd fallen asleep and headed to leave until you heard shuffling. She opened the door, shocked, after not expecting you to be stood there. She tilted her head to the side and furrowed her eyebrows questioningly.
"What are you doing here?" She asked slowly.
"Don't flatter yourself, Romanoff. I'm only here to ask about the mission."
She nodded, rolling her eyes at your comment and opening the door more inviting you inside, shutting it behind you. It was the first time you'd ever been in her room and it was a lot nicer than u expected. It was mainly red, signifying her logo, with a bookshelf in the corner of and framed pictures on her walls of her and the team, surprisingly you were in one of them. And then your eyes pondered across four pictures, in particular, it was a strip of pictures, like the ones you get out of a photo booth. There was a little girl with blue hair, presumably 14, and another one with blonde hair next to her, who seemed 6 or so. You never took Natasha to be a very sentimental person, but then again you didn't know Natasha at all, seeing as she was so closed off.
"So what do you need to know?" She asked.
"Just key details." You responded.
"Okay. Well, unfortunately, there's only me and you going. And it's 4 days long." You tensed at this, and she clearly wasn't pleased about it either in the tone of her voice.
"What? Who the hell decided that was a good idea?"
"Tony. He thinks it'll help us become friends. Trust me I'm not pleased about the situation either but there's no bother causing a fuss."
"I'll get him to replace me. There's no way I'm spending four days alone with you."
"What? Do you think I'm pleased about being stuck with you? Trust me, I can't stand you. Infact, I'd rather slit my own throat than spend as little as an hour with you."
"What time?" You asked bitterly through gritted teeth. Not wanting to spend another second in her room.
"Be ready for 8."
And with that, you left her room heading back to your own. You checked your clock to see that it was 11:30, meaning you should more than likely be getting some sleep ready for tomorrow's mission, but the feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach was stopping that from happening, so you webbed up to the roof instead and thought back to when it all began.
*Flashback to 2008*
"Mum, I'm heading out for school. I'll see you later yeah?"
It was your first day back at school since the passing of your dad. You'd took some time off needing to try and get over the tragedy.
Your mum concealed you in a hug and checked to make sure you had everything you needed, trying to stall you from going. It's not that she didn't want you to go, she was just worried about whether you'd be okay or not. You chuckled and complained saying about how you were going to be late.
"Okay. I know. I can't help it. It's just... this must be hard for you. Are you sure you're ok? Cause you know I can always call the school"-
"Mum you're spiralling. I'll be fine okay. If I'm not I'll call you. I promise. See you later yeah?"
You gave your mum one last hug before getting on the bus. You had a school trip today, which is why your mum thought it'd be best to send you back on this exact day so your mind wasn't swarmed with school work all day.
You stepped on the bus and immediately felt everybody's eyes on you."How's your dad?" Brad laughed.
Brad had always had it out for you since the day you joined school, but you never knew why.
You just carried on walking. Trying your hardest not to say something back. His mates high-fived him from behind you congratulating him on his "hilarious" joke.
You arrived at the zoo. Everyone filing off the bus like a herd of animals.
"Get into twos." Your teacher demanded, scurrying around trying to make sure everyone was there.
You didn't know who to pair up with as you'd lost most of your friends during the time you had off. And your best friend wasn't in today.
"Oi. y/l/n. Over here" Brad walked over to you, ruffling your hair. "Be my partner yeah?"
Uh-oh you thought. This won't be good. So you pushed him off you instead, trying to walk away.
"Piss off brad. I get it, none of your mates wanna pair up with you and I can see why. But that doesn't mean I will just because you're alone."
Brad grabbed your arm aggressively, pulling you into him as he growled lowly in your ear "Listen here, pretty girl. No one talks to me like that. Understand? Now quit fucking moaning and be my partner."
You froze in silence. Brad was a lot stronger than you and you'd heard about how he'd put other kids in the hospital before, so you thought best not to argue with him. He loosened his grip and you both walked into the first part of the facility. Immediately freaked out as it was full of reptiles. You couldn't stand them the thought of them made you gag. Brad dragged you over to the spiders, which you hated with a passion, and started banging on the glass. He ignored everyone who was repetitively telling him to stop, he gave the glass one last punch before it shattered everywhere, clearly, his intention wasn't to smash it by the look on his face, so he pushed you in front of him as protection and ran out. the spider's beginning to crawl out in a bunch, causing everyone to scream and run out. Including you. You took about three steps until one took the opportunity to jump onto your leg. You shook your leg frantically yelling for help, trying to get the damn spider off your leg. Until it bit you.
Shield saw all the times you'd stopped crimes from taking place and so they recruited you as an avenger. Which is when you met Natasha Romanoff. Immediately hating her as she did you.
