"Natasha Romanoff." Shouted one of the nurses from across the room. Natasha immediately rose from her seat and walked over. "Y/N should be awake any second now. Feel free to go in. She's in room 324."
"Thanks." Nat said, relief washing over her before rushing off in need of checking you were okay and making it a race of getting there before you woke up so you wouldn't be alone.
She arrived at your room, walking straight in. You were still sound asleep, pale with dark bags under your eyes. You were attached to a heart monitor that was beeping casually.
Nat turned to the nurse in the room who had been waiting for her to arrive. "Why's she got that on?" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"She passed out due to her heart racing at a speed not physically possible for the human body to even reach so we need it under surveillance to stop it from happening again." The Nurse told Nat. "It also seems she has some sort of substance in her that certainly shouldn't be there. We've never seen anything like this before. It's only recently entered her blood too as its still taking its time to spread throughout her body, but none of our monitors can get any information on it. Whether its deadly or not we don't know which is why were trying to figure out what it is as soon as possible. Do you have any idea on what it could be? Has she been acting weird or a little out of it lately?"
Nat stared at your dazed form. Her fingers picking at her lips and her eyebrows furrowed. This had to have something to do with HYDRA but she couldn't tell them that. All she knew was that she needed to get you to Steve. And fast. Him and Bruce would be able to find out about what was in you without a doubt.
"Erm no. I don't think so. Apart from her passing out shes been fine. Or so she seemed." Nat decided against telling her about anything to do with your eyes as it would probably just cause panic.
"Alright then. She should wake up soon, just call me in after you've had your time with her."
And with that the nurse left you and Nat alone.
She pulled up a chair beside your bed and took your hand in hers, staring at you for a while until you began to stir. She wiped away the few tears that had fallen from her eyes and plastered on a smile.
"Hey sleepyhead." She said softly.
"Hey." You replied. Blinking rapidly trying to regain your focus whilst slowly sitting up.
"Careful. Don't wanna over do it." She warned you, propping your pillows up for you with one hand, her other one still holding yours.
"Thanks." You smiled, gaining your focus back and noticing her tear stained eyes. "You really cried over me Romanoff. How sweet." You teased, smirking.
She pushed your arm gently. "Shut up. Shoot me for caring."
"I'm only messing." You chuckled airily. "You okay?"
"Shouldn't i be asking you that asking question." She raised her eyebrows.
"I'm fine." You shrugged.
"Stop lying. Thats what landed you in here in the first place."
You groaned knowing you were gonna have to tell her the truth. There was no way she was letting you leave this hospital room until she knew you were safe.
"Can't you just go back to hating me and not caring?" You joked, to which you got no reply but just an eyebrow raise and slightly tilted head. Showing you she wasn't in the mood for jokes right now.
"Fine." You sighed. Squeezing Nat's hand twice as it was probably the most compassion you could show her as of now. "Theres a lot though. It's gonna take a while."
