Chapter 23: The First City

Allens POV

We were able to come to the closest city from the boarder. Its called Echos, the first city.

The city was founded before any of the empires in the continent. Each corner of the city is boarder to other Territories. It is said that the moon goddess was the one who created the first city where all of her children are welcomed. Its a place of neutrality and without prejudice. It is why it garnered respect and independency from other Territories. According to the legend, the moon goddess stayed in the city for seven days and blessed the land to be bountiful and anyone who dare disrespect this safe haven shall be punished severely. Time went by and It prospered as it has the most idealistic route for trade.

"Halt!" A tall man came and ushered us to stop. We took out our official documents and a letter containing my mothers writings.

"Werewolves... hm how odd." He then signalled the others. Some sort of order...  "So where are you off to then?" He stared at us like trying to memorize our faces.

"Were just passing through" I said.

"As far as I know, you wolves keep to yourselves. Unless you have other reasons to."

"Actually, thank god. You understand us! we've never gone too far from our pack. Gosh the oldies back in our place are sooo conservative. So We came here to explore the wondersof the world.... " Trisha  started using her charms to talk to confuse the guard.

"Says here, you're on a vacation leave? A hiking trip with friends? And you came here for...."the man raised his eyebrow at the letter thinking he must have read it wrong. ".... you came here with your lunas signature, for a spa day?" The man who seems to be a boarder guard said while reading my mothers letter. Kean rolled his eyes and said, " yes andddd were here to eat. I am sooooo soo hungry. They forced me to walk like forver. It was so boring!"

" oh thats because of us girls!!!" Trisha giggled as she nudged Jasmine to play with her. O-oh. Yeah. We heard the city has the best to offer."

"So where are you from again?" Asked the man while furrowing his eyebrows.

"Lightmoon pack." Trisha answered.

"Wait here while we confirm this." Another guard left to confirm our papers.

Kean groaned. Jasmine laughted it off, " I'm sorry. My mate is on his period."

"No. I'm not!!" Kean muttered.

"Will you two just shut it for a minute? Its embarrassing!" Trisha remarked.

Kallum glared at Kean and Kean glared right back.

I faced palmed and said, "I'm sorry. They arent usually like this. We're just all excited because its our first time traveling. "

After a while, the guard that left earlier came back and reported that we were clear to pass.

The guard sighed and forced a smile, "Alright kids, stay out of trouble."

The bustling street was truly overwhelming. It was already late in the afternoon when we reached the gates so it was already getting dark but the streets still seems to be alive.

As we were admiring the place, we set off to find a place to eat and rest for the night.

Meanwhile.....

SEBASTIAN'S  POV
"Your highness, please be more reasonable!" Sebastian raised his voice at the mischievous prince. "Sshhhh.... you'll blow our cover!" We travelled in incognito as we have reached the City of Echos. As we were wondering down the streets, his highness Alvient keeps  "inspecting the food stalls", as he describes it.

"Oh, Sebastian! Stop with your worries! We're at Echos! The first City where everyone is equal. Its a neutral territory for a races. What could go wrong?"

As I've said, what could go wrong??

"EVERYTHING!!!" His highness glared at me viciously.  "I mean.. Ev- everything eventually your highness. We need to be careful. " I could have my head for this fiasco. His highness seems to enjoy this poor old mans lifespan shortening by the second.

"Oh gosh.. how careful can I be when you keep shouting, your highness! Your highness at me!! Why not just announce to the whole city that we're undercover.."

Why wear that extravagant attire your highness if we were meant to blend in??

Although I have to admit that he dressed down for the occasion. But the quality and the style of clothing he is wearing isn't something a commoner could ever think of wearing in their lifetime.

I guess I have to hold onto my neck for a while. Someone please pray for my soul.

Allens POV

Once we fully entered the city, we were all now fully exhausted and found an inn in the center of the market place. Most accommodations were already full. Luckily there were bedrooms available.

"We've got 2 bedrooms. Y'all pick which is which." The lady in the counter said.

"Only TWO!!??" Kean over dramatically exclaimed.

Jasmine smiled and said, " I guess we have to share. " Keans ears perked and turned red but said " No thanks. I'd be with allen!!"

Callum then intervened, " Trish and I will have the other room!!"

Jasmine then also chimed, "Noooo! Then where would that leave me!!"

They started arguing and I could feel my head hurting. From traveling to finding a place to sleep when will they ever get tired of bickering.

Finally Trisha the only voice of reason stopped them and said " ENOUGH!!  You boys get the other room. Us girls will have ours!! Do you understand?"

"NOOOOOOOO!" everyone protested but since it was the only logical solution we all had to do it anyway.

Now in a room with two hot blooded and hot headed werewolves, I hope we survive for the night. The tension between us was suffocating. Callum and Kean kept glaring at eachother and bumping at each others shoulder sarcastically saying, "sorry I didn't see you there! " and all the other childish pranks they pull on each other.

I, on the other hand, had my mind lingering about the scent I caught in the woods. I was sure it was my mate. I was definitely sure it was her. How amazing that we almost met her? But why did she run away? Does our mate hate us? Does she not want us??

A lot of questions kept echoing inside my head as I drift into sleep.
