*Three Years Later *
"Good Morning Ms. Carter." My assistant said smiling at me.
"Good Morning." I said back smiling at him.
He's been my really good friend since I moved here for work. In front of the office, we keep things very professional but when we get behind my office doors, things change. It doesn't by any means have an effect on our work, so I'm fine with it.
"So what's up for this weekend?" He asked me.
"Well you know Kelsey's getting married, the wedding is this weekend." I said
"You don't seem too happy." He said.
"No, I'm happy I'm just exhausted. Being Maid of Honor and trying to find a damn date to this thing has been keeping me busy." I said.
"Why do you need a date?" He asked me.
"Because I am not going back home without a man on my arm. I hate being the single person at weddings. I experienced enough of that at Jeremy and Erins wedding last year." I said.
"You want me to go with you? I mean I'm going this weekend as your assistant but do you need me to be your date?" He asked.
Because I have a few deadlines, Jacob is coming down to Texas with me.
"No. I'm gonna find a date. I'm determined." I said.
"You have less than twenty four hours until you go home, what are you gonna do hire an escort because if so,I know the perfect agency." He said.
"I'm not you." I smirked.
"Don't hate on me. I've got a man." He said.
"You also pay him a five hundred dollars an hour just to be with you" I said.
"But I'm still getting dick." He reminded.
"I told you I'm just gonna be a virgin till marriage." I shrugged.
"Who actually sticks to that pledge! " He said.
"I didn't take the pledge I was waiting for the right one." I said.
"Damn girl." He said shaking his head.
"I know. I've been through what ten men, and I'm still a virgin. Who the hell is a twenty four year old virgin?" I asked.
"What twenty four year old is a financial analyst and financial manager of a big company?" He asked me.
"Me." I smiled.
"Damn right so who cares if you don't come back with a date?" He asked me.
"I do." I said.
"It must be an ex." He said smirking.
I put my head down, and got to work.
"I'm right. aren't i?" He asked.
"Jacob. Not right now." I whined.
"Oh I'll be your date if you need me to." He said.
"Jacob you ooze gay" I reminded.
He nodded. "You're right and if I were to see a sexy sexy man then I might just have to get at that." He said.
I laughed and shook my head. "I've got to find a man!" I groaned.
"Why is it that you're in New York City and can't find a decent man? How in the hell is that possible?" He asked.
"It's because I'm a southern girl, and I want a gentleman." I said.
"What happened to the white guy, Ade?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes. "You know what happened with Ade." I said.
"No. I don't. I just know that you said something about him and his mother." He said taking a seat.
"He had a fetish for breast, but not just breast his mothers breast." I said.
He laughed. "I told ya ass to stay away from them. I said only date broth as." He said.
"Shut up. I dated white men, just this one was worse then the others." I said.
He laughed. "Whatcha mean?"
"He touched his mothers breast and told me, that my breast should be like hers." I said.
"You lying." He said shaking his head.
"I'm so serious and you know what she said when he did it infront of me?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No. What she say?"
"The old hag said Stop, not in front of company." I said causing him to laugh out loud. "She said it like it was normal! Like your grown ass son is supposed to touch and fondle your breast. Oh just not infront of company." I told him.
"I can't with you. Listen it's okay if you go back home without a man. Who really cares?" He said. "Listen Miss Lauren, you are successful, and smart, and beautiful. Maybe it's best if you go to the wedding single, maybe you'll come back to the NYC with a man." He shrugged.
I sighed. "I hope you're right because I'm getting old." I said.
"No, you really aren't. You're not even twenty five calm down boo." He said.
"My mother complains all the time about how at my age she was married and already had James and Chris." I said.
"Chris. That's my husband right?" He asked
"How can you be married to a man you haven't seen in person or talked to?" I asked.
"The Mexicans do it all the time. Margarita did it." He said.
I laughed. "Her name is Margie and that's her business." I said.
"Please that bitch name is margarita." He said waving me off.
"Don't come for her and Francisco." I said.
"Francisco Juan Carlos is his full first name." He corrected.
I laughed. "You know what Im not messing with you. Get to work." I said.
"Yes boss." He smirked and sashayed out of my office.
I shook my head and sat back in my seat. What the hell am I gonna do?
