"What the hell happened in there?" She asks as she pulls back to look at me.

Alessia is my only friend who knows about my mafia life. Hell, she works with me. If I end up dead in a ditch somewhere, she'll be the one to keep Cosa Nostra going. And I have complete trust in her ability to run it.

"I didn't mean to, it just happened." I look down, suddenly ashamed, though I don't know why. As far as I'm concerned, those two hoes have had it coming for a long time.

"I know, I meant, what'd she say."

I take a deep, shaky breath.

"We were changing back into our normal clothes after swimming and-" I take another breath. I close my eyes.

"It's alright if you don't want to talk about it yet."

"No I- I just- I heard them talking about the... you know, the news." Alessia nods, understanding that I'm talking about my mother.

"I couldn't hear their conversation that well at first but then people started leaving and after a while it was just me and them. They began to whisper but they weren't that careful cause they thought I couldn't hear them since I had my airpods in. But I had paused the music a few minutes before and I could hear all of it."

I realise my hands are shaking now and Alessia's noticed too. She takes my hands in hers and I'm thankful for the warmth of her hands as they envelope mine.

"They did it, A. I thought it was some sort of deal gone wrong but it wasn't. It was just an everyday fucking hit and run. They were talking about it like it was some sort of small accident. The kind of accident where you just bump into someone on the streets."

Damn, it really killed my mood though. Like Luke was so pissed he didn't even wanna fuck when we got to his place. It's fine, she was drunk anyway, if anyone saw, they would know it was her fault not ours.

Yea you're right, the bitch should've been more careful. What, are we supposed to stop our whole ass night for her or something.

No but you could've at least stopped your fucking car.

"Are you sure?" Alessia asks me like I'm some troubled kid who lost her parents at the mall.

My eyes snap to hers as I glare into her bright blue irises.

"Yea I'm pretty fucking sure," I whisper as firmly as I can.

"Right sorry, I just thought-"

"You thought what, that I was 'hallucinating from the grief' or some shit?" I say, quoting my dick of a econ teacher's sad attempt at comforting me. In front of the whole damn class, might I add.

Alessia looks down and I instantly regret the way I talked to her. Just because I'm her boss in the mafia doesn't give me the right to treat her as anything less than a friend.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to-" My head falls as I stare into the white covers of the bed.

"It's fine, I get it." She offers a smile and squeezes my hand before getting up.

"I'm gonna go get Nadia and Serena and I'll come back another time. Get some rest." Alessia says as she begins to head out.

She stops a the door and turns around. "Don't be ashamed of what you did. You have no reason to be. What they did was... God I can't even think of the words to describe it. It was fucking disgusting, Rayns. And with the way they talked about it." She shakes her head. "Let's just say you won't be the only one pulling the trigger when it happens."

"Oh I'll be doing more than just pulling the trigger."

I glare at the wall behind Alessia

"I'll make them fucking beg for death."
