Going back to school for her senior year was something Deena had been dreading since the summer started. She hated the fact that she would no longer be able to sleep in until three in the afternoon or stay up until seven in the morning. It didn't help that she waited until the last minute to try and reset her sleep schedule. Of course it didn't work, she was up all night listening to music at full blast.
By the time she had fallen asleep it was too late, her alarm clock rang half an hour later only for her to turn it off and fall back asleep. Bringing us to right now where she and her brother Josh are currently running late for the first day back to school.
"Deena why are you so stupid? We were suppose to leave an hour ago but your dumbass decided to stay up all night." The boy scolded, struggling to put on his shoes.
"Its not my fault, I got distracted." Deena replied, "Ow fuck, my toe. I just stubbed my toe." She whined clutching her foot while hopping around to find her other shoe.
"Yes it is! There isn't much to get distracted by in this house!" He yelled out, opening and closing the door behind him.
"Gee thanks for waiting for me." Deena mumbled to herself. She grabbed her car keys and raced out the door to the car. Starting it up and speeding away. The ride was short and quiet, when they pulled into the parking lot no one was around.
The brunette turned off the car and looked at her brother, "I won't be here afterschool. Kate wants me at her tryouts." Josh nodded and exited the car with Deena following close behind, splitting ways once they got inside the school.
Speed walking to her first hour, she pounded on the door waiting for it to open. "Ms. Johnson, care to tell me why you are late?" The teacher asked as he opened the door wide enough for her to enter.
Deena shook her head and took the last remaining seat, "No, but thanks for asking. That was real kind of you." She put her thumbs up and smiled wide.
The teacher said something under his breath that she didn't catch but could only assume it was something to do with hating children. The introduction into the lesson continued on for a couple of more minutes until the bell for second period rang. Deena shot out of her seat and was the first to leave, even if she was only in there for a couple of minutes it felt like hell to her.
Walking down the halls to her next class someone bumped into her. She payed them no attention and then they bumped into her again. "Hey, watch- Oh. Hey Kate."
"Hey ladykiller, how'd you sleep?" The smaller girl asked with a small smile playing on her lips.
Deena smiled back, her tired eyes closing for a few seconds and then opening again. "I slept amazing, I got so many hours of sleep that I'm practically dead." replied sarcastically while lazily putting up a thumbs up.
Kate laughed and shook her head, "I can see that. You look amazing by the way, I never thought I'd see the day someone could pull off red plaid pajama pants and denim jacket with a yellow crop top underneath "
"Yeah? Well it was the first thing I saw. You also look good by the way." Deena complimented back as she took in her friend's cheer clothes.
"Oh I know." Kate flipped her hair over her shoulder and both the girls laughed. "Also there's a new girl in town and I heard she's a founding family of Sunnyvale, which means she's rich." She wiggled her eyebrows at her friend.
"I know that look. Stop it, I'm not looking for a relationship and all rich people are just a bunch of snobs." Deena shook her head and walked ahead.
"Well if you don't want her, I'll take her." Kate shouted out to Deena who was now a few feet in front of her. The brunette turned to face Kate and flipped her off before walking away to her second hour.
"This is going to be a long day." Deena cursed under her breath. When she walked into her second class she was greeted by her teacher who was talking to another student, one Deena hadn't seen around. 'Must be the new girl. Ugh.' She thought to herself as she sat down.
Once everyone was settled down into their seats the teacher introduced the girl upfront. "Class this will be your new classmate, her name is Samantha Fraser. Please welcome her with warm arms and Samantha why don't you tell the class about yourself." The teacher suggested.
"Hi uhm- I'm Sam but you already know that so uh- there's not actually much to tell. May I sit down please?" The blonde girl asked the teacher hesitantly who in response nodded her head. Sam moved to the back of the class where Deena was sitting and sat down beside her.
"Great, just great. Prissy rich girl had to sit by me." Deena mumbled to herself and rolled her eyes. She gazed to the left of her where the new student sat and got a good look at her. There wasn't much to her. "Basic blonde rich girl if you ask me."
"Sorry, did you say something?" The girl beside her questioned as she turned to look at Deena.
"Hmm no." The brunette shook her head.
"Oh, sorry to disturb you then." Sam smile gently at her and turned her head back to the teacher. 'Who even says that?' Deena asked herself while also turning her head to look back at the teacher.
