The New Captain of squad three

Soul society, Seireitei

Izuru was unsure of what to say. walking in almost complete silence, it was unnerving to say the least. Izuru couldn't remember feeling so embarrassed yet on edge at the same time.

Suddenly Captain Suzuki stopped, "Hey lieutenant Kira, do you like plum, or strawberry flavored soda"? As he asked he reached into his shihakusho, and pulled out two different cans.

"Um... I'm not... uh... heh," Izuru scratched the back of his head, "I'm not really sure what a soda is Captain. May I ask what that is"?

Captain Suzuki let out a big laugh, "Sorry, my bad lieutenant. A Soda is a carbonated sugary drink from the world of the living, it's pretty good, there really popular in the world of the living".

Izuru nodded, "Oh in that case I'll take the strawberry one then". Izuru took the soda and looked at it strangely.

Captain Suzuki laughed and showed him how to open it, both men took a drink. The Captain immediately spit his out.

"Gah, are you alright Captain," Izuru immediately panicked nearly dropping his drink. However Captain Suzuki threw his hand out dramatically.

"Not to worry, young one, I'm fine," the Captain hung his head low, then shot it up, "I've merely been poisoned".

"WHAT," Izuru shouted.

However as soon as he said this Captain Suzuki burst out laughing, "HAHA, relax  lieutenant, I'm fine, I simply hate plums".

Izuru looked shocked, "Wait... why would you offer me the strawberry one if you hate plum's"?

"Because, I don't mind putting my men first, it is after all a captains job to put their squad first... unless your Captain Kurotsuchi then I suppose research is more important," Captain Suzuki said laughing nervously.

Izuru sighed, "Um Captain there's something I need to tell you."

Captain Suzuki looked at Izuru, giving the lieutenant his full attention. There was something about having this man's full attention that made him a bit unnerved. There was still this uneasy feeling. A feeling that was so familiar it was practically biting him, yet he couldn't  quiet name this cold feeling as if something was wrapping around him.

'How do I tell him the other members of the squad aren't going to be thrilled about the fact we have a new captain,' Izuru thought.

"Uh, hey lieutenant are you OK," Captain Suzuki asked waving his hand in front of the lost in thought lieutenant. A look of concern on his face set off red flags for Izuru, causing his body to stiffen for a second.

"Oh, well, I'm afraid the other members of squad three are probably not going to be too trusting of a new captain." Izuru panicked and immediately tried to reassure his new captain.

"It's really nothing against you captain. It's just with two previous captains... their just on edge."

Captain Suzuki sighed and scratched the back of his head. He sighed again and looked up at the sky.

"You know lieutenant, I'm well aware your just as uneasy as the rest of the men. Your distant, you've kept your guard up since the captain's meeting, and your body was as stiff as a brick when I dragged you out of your thoughts.

"Look," Suzuki looked Izuru in the eyes, "I know you don't trust me, and I'm fine with that, same with the rest of the squad. After former captain Ichimaru, and former captain Amagai's actions, I don't blame any of you for your mistrust. However I'm not going to betray the squad, or the soul society. I promise you and the rest of the division that. My soul goal is to uphold my duty as a soul reaper, and to regain the honor of the third division, and to protect all of you, understand."

Izuru looked at his new captain shocked, completely dumbfounded by the honesty and conviction of his captains words. Perhaps he was wrong about him after all.

"Anyway if were done talking, I suppose we should get going, keeping the rest of the squad waiting is bad form, and I'm never late to important meetings, after all."

Izuru sweat dropped mentally, 'Then why were you late to the captain's meeting then hmmm,' Izuru thought to him self.

Suddenly captain Suzuki's calm serious face broke out into a grin and he burst out laughing, HAHAHAH just kidding I'm always late haha"!

Izuru sweat dropped again as the two continued their walk to squad three's barracks. Unaware of the surprise waiting for them.

Hey guys sorry for the late update, something came up. Updates won't always be on time but they will come. If I ever decide to discontinue the story I'll make a post about it. I'll never leave ya'll hanging.
