"Mia"
I turn around to see Alicia walking towards me with some files in her hands.
"Yes cia?" I answer her back.
"Well, boss asked if you could find out reports on this person in the files,it sounds pretty intriguing" she said while handing the files to me.
"Hmm, I'll check on it at home, thank you!" I reply with a small smile while taking it from her .
"Mia...you look stressed, when last did you have a good rest?" She asked
I sigh, running a hand through my hair, Alicia is my colleague and my best friend, though we have our differences she's been a good friend when I needed her, she has helped me too, emotionally and financially, she actually helped me get this job, I put my hand on her shoulder and smile
"I'm fine cia, trust me" I reply
"That's what you always say" she replied with a small frown.
"Because that's all I have to say" I reply and flip the files open trying to find a distraction, she sighs and I grin
"I have to go" I say checking my watch "I'm running late, I have to be somewhere in 2hours" I say and we hug, I start walking away after she bid me goodbye.

******
I get into my car, staring at the night sky, I start moving my car heading for my destination.
How did my life exactly turn to this?
I feel lost, I've always felt lost.
6years ago, I moved to Brooklyn, leaving my family and friends back in Spain, it's been difficult fairing alone, starting afresh when there's a terrible past but all good.
I'm alive, that's good enough. I started working in a tech company 4years ago, it's been nice, they pay very good and the boss is completely nice.
I'm not a greedy person, I feel contented with what I have, how I'm leaving my life is good enough for me but that doesn't stop the numbing feeling I have. I really want to be free from this loneliness.
I'm free but I'm not free.
I'm in my own mind trap.
I feel suffocated and I'm starving.
I sigh stopping when the traffic turns red, my phone starts to shrill and I answer the call even without looking at it, the familiar voice traveling through the speakers
"Mia?" Theresa, my son's nanny asks
"Mia on the line, how you doing Theresa?" I ask
"Absolutely fine, I know I'm not supposed to be calling you now but kaden won't sleep until he's heard your voice" she says slightly frustrated.
"Ah!" I chuckle "I want to talk to my son please"
"Right away" she says before giving the phone to kaden
"Mama?"
