when looking at the town of shadyside, death and adversity followed the residents closely. the myth and legend was simple and known by all of shadyside- sarah fier, a forsaken witch from the 1600s cast a curse upon her town, hexing it's future residents. the townspeople discovered her sinful crimes, and hanged the woman. using her deal with the devil, sarah fier cut her hand on satan's stone, holding a firm grip over the town until hand and body unite. through the years, she set her sights on the people of shadyside, corrupting their minds and freewill, turning them into vicious killers. permanently submerging the town in bloodshed and tragedy.

unlike most, josie frell fully and wholeheartedly believed in the witch while her peers treated it as a simple myth. spending afternoons researching the shadyside killers, digging deep into the forums dedicated to sarah fier. josie came from a long line of those affected by the curse, changing generation after generation. her mother was always assisting her in her projects, having been a victim of the '78 massacre, until she herself went mad.

avery frell's workplace was filled with disaster that fateful day in 1990. coworkers slaughtered, the hallways covered in rivers of blood. josie was told her mother had suffered from a 'psychotic break'. just as the family members of past killers were told. but, the girl knew what had truly happened. her mother didn't just snap one day, the woman was one of the few shadysiders who enjoyed their life.

josie knew what had occurred. and with the help of friends and her new legal guardian, she wasn't going to stop until she stopped the curse. her endless searching never stopped. a new cause of justice for her mother in her heart.

despite her desperate need for the ending of the curse, finding the missing piece she endlessly searched for, josie had never expected to be pulled into a massacre of her own. as she and her friends fight for not only their lives, but the future of shadyside, the final piece is revealed.

of not only the curse of sarah fier, but of herself. what and who she had truly been missing in life. a purpose.
