Chapter 5

Alex's POV

Me and Lucinda were relaxing at our house watching tv when we heard a knock on our front door. "Do you want to get it?" I asked, looking at Lucinda.

"No, will you please get it?" She asked. We heard the knock again before looking at each other. She started giving me her best puppy eyes, begging me to get up and open the door. I sighed and got up, leaving her on the couch. I opened the door to see Travis standing there. "Hey Alex, I was wondering if you and Lucinda wanted to join me and everyone on a big group date on valentines?" He asked. I heard steps coming towards us I looked behind me to see Lucinda seeing us. "Hey Travis." She greeted. 

"It sounds like fun, I think we'll go." I said. 

"Cool, we're going to the mall then to dinner later on valentines." Travis said.

"Just text me the details." I said. He nodded and headed back to his house. "What was that all about?" Lucinda asked. I shut the door and led her back to the couch. "He invited us to a valentines group date with everyone." I explained.

"Oh, that sounds like fun. Maybe I should bring some potions to cause a little mayhem." Lucinda said.

"Please no, I don't want to be on clean up for something like that." I said. The next couples days I did my best to finish up any jobs I had to be sent out of valentines, once those I finished those, I gathered the extra money I had been saving to use on different things. After that me and Lucinda went shopping to get some nicer clothing before Valentines. When the group date started, we all met at the arcade in the mall. I finally got to talk with Zane, getting to know him more. Before the date really started, all the girls, except for Aphmau, went to the restroom. I found a few games to try before meeting the manager, who was fixing a claw machine. I helped him fix the issue before referring him to my shop to see if I could help him save some money on costs for the arcade. He thanked me for the advice before Lucinda came over to us. "Sorry to interupt but can I steal this prize?" She asked grabbing my arm. 

"Go right ahead." The manager said. We found a few games to play before heading to the prize booth to buy some prizes. Lucinda only had a few tickets while I had quite a few. "Can you please get me that black cat plushie?" Lucinda asked. I nodded and used my tickets to get her the cat. I turned around to see Aphmau walking out of the bathroom which confused me since I saw her with Aaron a little bit ago. "Hey I gotta go for a sec, be right back." I said kissing Lucinda on the cheek. She giggled and nodded while still looking over the prizes. I followed Aphmau only to see her trying to talk with Zane. "I thought her and Zane were really good friends." I thought. The more they talked the more I realized that it wasn't Aphmau. I drew a rune on a piece of paper before walking over to them and giving her the paper. Once the rune started to take effect the fake Aphmau ran off to the bathroom. "What was that?" Zane asked. 

"Someone was using a potion to try and get with you." I explained. Zane looked at me a little confused before accepting my answer. I headed back to Lucinda finding her looking at me from behind a few games. "What?" I asked.

"What'd you do to that potion?" She asked. I took a deep breath before looking at her. "I'll tell you about it later." I said. We met up with the rest of the group, but something seemed off about Michi. She continued to try and get close with Zane, but was still failing. We headed to the restaurant that Travis had resevered for us. Once we got home Lucinda seemed a little upset about something. "What's wrong babe?" I asked.

"I don't know, but I still want to know what you did to remove that potion effect." She said. I led her to the couch and sat down with her. "As a young mage I learned a few runes that can dispel spells and potions, although ithas it's own restrictions which mainly just mean that if the spell or potion is strong enough I can't dispel it." I explained.

"I didn't know that you could do that." She said.

"Well if people knew about it they'd be coming after rune mages more." I said.

"True a rune that powerful could do a lot of bad." She said. I nodded before standing up, I held my hand out waiting for her to take it. She took it and I pulled her up into a hug. "Stop worrying about it, let's just head to bed and we can talk more tomorrow." I said. She nodded, we headed upstairs Lucinda went to the bathroom and changed into her pajamas before joining me in the bed. She snuggled up close to me and fell asleep quickly.
