Chapter 11

Alex's POV

After the first week of settling into our new house. I remembered Lucinda's birthday was today. I was thinking about what I could get her on the couch, but nothing was coming to mind. "What can I get her?" I asked myself. 

"What are you talking about?" Lucinda asked, coming downstairs. 

"Oh, it's nothing." I said, looking at her.

"Okay, well I have a meeting with someone at the shop, So I won't see you until later." Lucinda said, grabbing her stuff. She gave me a kiss before she left the house. "Now I can go get her a present." I said, getting up from the couch. I opened my phone and texted Zane, hoping he might know what to get her. "Why don't we meet up and see if you can find something at the mall?" Zane said. I agreed, and we headed to the mall to see about my present idea. "What do you think would be the best gift for her?" I asked.

"That depends, but I want to know something. Why'd you ask me instead of Aphmau or one of the other girls?" Zane asked.

"When I thought about it, some of the girls would probably tell Lucinda about me doing this, so I didn't want to ruin the surprise for her." I said. He nodded as we started walking through the mall. I found a few good ideas, but Zane would always point out something that might be better for her. The more we looked around the more time seemed to speed up. "Alex how about we get lunch before we continue looking for Lucinda's present." Zane suggested. I nodded before we headed to the food court. We split up for a bit so we could get food, but once we ate we went back to looking for Lucinda's gift. 

"How about we go to a shop that has more magic related items?" Zane asked. I nodded as we made our way out of the mall and towards a magic shop. When we got there I started looking through their selection before asking what would make a good gift for someone. The person helping me led to a few different things before leaving me to look around some more. "So did you find anything?" Zane asked coming up to me. 

"Not really, I don't get why it's so hard for me to find her a birthday present." I said.

"Maybe it's because you're trying to hard." Zane said. 

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Look, you two have been dating for two years now?" Zane asked. I nodded. "Then shouldn't you just do something nice for her?" He asked. 

"Yeah, but I think birthdays should be special." I said.

"I'm sure whatever you get her she'll be happy with it." Zane said. I looked at him before looking back at the items in the shop. "Well if you want to continue looking go ahead, but I'm going to head home." Zane said. I nodded. After a while of looking around for a minute before I headed back home. When I got home I walked inside to see Lucinda cooking in the kitchen. "Hi." I said, looking at her. 

"Welcome home." Lucinda said, turning to face me. I looked at her for a minute before turning away. "I know it's your birthday, but I couldn't find anything to get you." I said. I heard foot steps coming towards me before looking up to see Lucinda looking at me. "That's okay, I didn't need anything from you. All I wanted for my birthday to be with you and have you close to me." Lucinda said. I looked at her and smiled before pulling her into a hug. "Thank you for being who you are." I said. She giggled as she returned my hug. "Come on, let's eat before it gets cold." Lucinda said. I nodded before we headed into the kitchen and ate what she had made for us. After that we spent the day together doing different things. I taught her some rune magic while she taught me to brew some potions and some magic that he uses. The next day we did a few things in our shop before we spent the day with each other. "Thank you for spending the day trying to find me a gift." Lucinda said. I smiled and looked at her. "No problem, I just wish I could've found something for you." I said.

"Like I told you before, the only thing I wanted was for you to be with me." Lucinda said.

"I know, it just bothers me that I couldn't think of anything." I said.

"Well maybe we should go together and find something for me." Lucinda suggested. I nodded. We made our way over to a couple of stores and started looking around. Lucinda wasn't finding anything too quickly, but eventually she found something that she wanted. I bought it for her and we headed home to just rest for the rest of the day.
