Mutiny - rebelling against authority.

Prince POV

Feb. 28th, 1985

After performing for the Grammys a few days ago, the crew and I stayed in Los Angeles and recorded songs in Sunset Studio. I'm in Studio with Sheila. I stop the track and press a button to speak to Sheila in the booth. "I need you to sing it the way" I demonstrated.

"I'm trying to keep up with the note you told me to do."

"Then keep trying. I don't have time," I told her. I know Shiela isn't all of a good singer, but she has a perfect soprano voice that I can work with.

I believe that anybody has a natural ability to sing. Whether good or bad, you can sing. Besides, I was going to put a synthesizer or something over her voice to make her sound good. Vanity admitted she couldn't sing and looked at what I did and made her turn out.

Vanity. I miss that woman. I hope she's doing okay.

I turn the instrumentals back on and press record. We're working on getting through the middle of the course of the song. My part is already recorded, so we're just working on her parts.

After she finished, I told her to step out of the booth so I can finish editing and mixing the track. She comes to sit next to me and watches me work. She starts leaning very close to the point my space is a bit invaded.

"Sheila, I'm gonna need you to not crowd me. I can't work like this," I said calmly with my deep voice feeling uncomfortable.

"Oh sorry, I understand. I was just seeing what you do with these buttons."

"Well, one day when I have the time, I will teach you. I was thinking of producing a record for you by the way."

"A record?" She asks surprised.

"Yes. Just you on a record and your band together. And maybe do another duet together," I look at her as she smiles with excitement.

"Okay, I think I can handle doing that. However, I want my own image."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm saying is I don't want to be another carve and copy of Vanity,"

I furrow my brows in confusion as I mixed the track.

"What?!"

"You heard what I said. I don't want to be another Vanity. I want my own look, my own outfits, and my own thing," she blabs and I just stop the record and take a look at her.

"Sheila, you're not gonna be another Vanity. Vanity was one of my best gimmicks yet, but you're not her. You're way different and besides, I was already going to give you your own image."

"Oh," she looks down as I chuckle while shaking my head.

"Aye, don't worry about it. I got a lot of plans for you and other artists I got signed to my studio label," I mention as I turn back around to continue what I was doing.

"Including me?" She asks in the tone of her voice I can hear a grin.

"Of course."

"You know Prince, I was wondering if there was anything else that I and you will get to do. Say, later on, we spend the night with our little rendezvous," she gets close as she flirts with me.

Unfortunately, I already have plans to take Susannah out tonight.

"I can't tonight. I got plans," I say uninterested in her offer.

I hear someone walk into the Studio, "Prince, can I talk to you?" I heard Susannah's voice say.

I nodded and told Sheila to give us a moment.
