Hey I'm Megan.
Jamie, or JJ as we all call him, and I have been best friends since we were little. He's the best friend I could have ever asked for. We've always had each others back; he was there when I needed advice or someone to talk to, he wasn't only my best friend but he was like my brother. I treated him like the brother I never had and he treated me like his sister. If i'm honest, I don't know why I still say that because he would always flirt with me! One was never seen without the other until that horrible day changed everything.
I walked in from school, tired from the day that had passed. I dumped my school bag down and ran upstairs. Quickly, I got changed out of my uncomfortable, blue school uniform and changed into something more comfortable. I dug out my old shorts and put them on with one of my favorite Hollister T-shirts. My phone began to ring on my desk. Running over to pick it up, I tripped over the purple rug in my room, I was always doing something stupid or clumsy. The text was from JJ
"3 days" it read.
You're probably wondering what was happening in three days, well it's my birthday and apparently, JJ has this big thing planned. Living in London, there was a lot we could do on my birthday and he always made my birthdays a day to remember.
I went into the study room where all my folders were stored. I picked out my Drama folder. Drama had always been my favorite subject and I loved to act. JJ and I were like double trouble in that class, we were the class clowns. I had to get my homework done within one hour as I had a riding class soon.
The hour flew by and before I knew it, I was sat in the car with my mum singing at the top of my lungs.
We pulled up at the stables where JJ met me with a huge hug.
"I'm gonna beat you today!" he said, with a cheeky grin on his face.
"want a bet??......race ya!" I replied and started to run to my horse. We'd asked if JJ's horse Oliver and my horse, Midnight could be stored in the same stable. They had no problem with it. I won the race of course. I led Midnight onto the track and started to ride her around, jumping over the obsitcles. It was then when I caught my mum, she looked like she was crying. I didn't know what was wrong; I hated to see my mum crying. JJ's mum was trying to comfort her with a shocked look on her face, there was something going on and it didnt look good.
"hey!" I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see JJ.
"What's wrong buddy?" he asked.
"Nothing" I replied "I'm just not feeling too good, I think I'm going to leave her for the night, I might go and chill in the common room with the others, gonna come??"
"why not"
We led our horses away and made our way to the common room. I turned to see my mum in a tight hug with JJ's. I was getting very worried.
We spent an hour in the common room with our friends. The one thing I liked about our club was the fact that we all got along and there was never any bitching. That's also another reason why I tend to have more lad mates than girls. I'm a really girly girl but I hate the bitchiness when I'm around other girls; when I'm with lads, I just feel like theres's no judgement. I was sat on JJ's knee when our mums walked in and told us that it was getting late. We both said goodbye and then headed for home.
"Are you ok mum??" I asked.
"Yes Love, why?"
"You're not are you!"
"What's that supposed to mean"
"You know exactly what it means mum! I saw you crying before"
"Me? Cry? Oh come on Meggy, you know me better than that"
"Mum I know when someone's crying, please just tell me whats wrong"
There was an awkward silence. I was nearly in tears. I always wanted to help my mum. She had me when she was very young and had brought me up the best she could. We were like sisters and I always wanted to be there for her, like she had always been there for me.
"Mum please...." I pleaded one last time.
"I don't think you want to know sweetheart...."
"Mum......"
She took a deep breath.
"I can't"
"You can, just tell me"
"But this isn't the way I wanted you to find out"
"I'm going to find out anyway....."
"ok.....what would you erm say if I said that we're erm...."
"We're what?"
"We're moving......"
