After finishing my pizza I went back upstairs. Jim and I were ignoring each other the whole time, making Sebastian awfully uncomfortable. I've never seen the man blushing. And from the look Jim threw him the criminal hasn't seen it either.
Around six Sebastian knocked on my door, telling me that he would leave for a while. It wasn't necessary to ask where he was going, I knew that someone was about to get killed. So the only thing I said was "stay safe."
He laughed his ass off and left. Leaving me alone in this house with Jim.Right now I was looking for my blades. I threw them in the corner and under my bed. It was annoying.
"Looking for this ?" I turned around quickly, almost falling from my bed to find Jim. He was standing in the middle of my room, holding one of my blades in his hand. "Uh, yes."Without another word he put the thing on my wardrobe and came a bit closer until he stood at the foot of my bed. It was terrifying.
"Quit." He said, staring me right into my eyes. I noticed there wasn't an amused edge or smirk. He meant it.
"No! I mean, I need money, and I actually want to get back to my job one day." Even if it takes forever.
"No. You don't understand. I want you to quit and work for me." And that was the moment my jaw hit the floor. I expected everything, really. But certainly not this.
"This is a joke, right ?" He huffed a laugh and sat down. Not breaking the eye contact.
"You put a gun on my head. Not many people would do that. I merely offer you a job because you're good. And I only want the best of the best, darling.""You're not angry?" He smirked. "No. I'm impressed. I knew Moran likes you for a reason. And I just found one myself."
"I'm..- no. I can't kill innocent people just because you want them death. I don't even know what you do." At that his face brightened up like someone just gifted him the world.
"No no no, the people involved aren't innocent. All of them have a reason to get what they get. I have clients, they request and I decide if it's worth it. The rest is just a game." I blinked stupidly because he sounds so excited. I've never met someone talk about their job like that. Not even me.
"So you're the opposite of Sherlock. A consulting criminal. The people you kill have dirt on their hands ?""Yes! You're smart, I like that." His childish behaviour made me smile for a second. But it dropped as soon as I remembered what we where talking about.
"I'm not. Smart people would've left by now.""Why haven't you then?" That was a good question. Why haven't I left ? Maybe because I wanted to stay with Sebastian ? Or because the room was nice ? Or because I found it intruding to life with them ? No. "Because you were nothing but kind to me, there is no reason to leave."
"Exactly. I respect you, otherwise you wouldn't live under my roof." He grimaced and got up, smoothing his suit.
That's when it clicked.
"What the hell. You knew!" I yelled and got up to walk around to him. "You knew I would be there, that's why you asked all these weird questions. You tested me.""Really , you should give yourself some credit. Of course I planned it. But not for the reasons you think. I wanted to see how far you would go....Don't break your little head about it."
"I can't believe you......but Fine. I'll think about it. Now out with you, I need to check my face and change before I leave." I went to my wardrobe and picket out one of my dark blue suits for today. I always wore them when I was in a changeable mood.
"About that. What happened?"
Sighting loudly I rushed to my bathroom but let the door open. Why was he trying to chat so desperately ?
"Sebastian hit me. I thought Mycroft would buy it.""Can't believe big brother is locking you up." Jim mumbled and I knew it wasn't meant for me to hear.
I listened to his footsteps and my door, as soon as I was sure that he left I sat down on the edge of my tube. How could all of this stuff happen in such a short amount of time ? This was ridiculous.Sighting again I got ready, texting Sebastian about Jim's offer. He was the only person I could talk about this with. And his opinion was pretty important for me.
On the other hand, I knew I could do just great in MI6 if Mycroft would let me.
But that wouldn't happen so fast. Maybe Jim was my ticket to a new chance.-
One of Jim's driver brought me to my office. He was happy that I wanted to talk a little about the weather and coffee shops I visited, because 'boss' never wanted to talk.
I figured out it was Jim's private driver, and it just confused me even more because he was so nice to me all of the sudden.
It was manipulative."Enjoyed your ride? Didn't know you could pay for such things." Mycroft quipped when I passed him in the hallway. He was discussing something with Anthea.
"That's none of your business." I snapped without looking at him. He was clearing his throat and following me.
"Really, just leave me alone." I almost yelled."I see you're still...angry."
"Yeah because I'm not allowed to do my job. How long are you planning on locking me up?" He took a glance at his watch, a sign that he wanted to leave.
"Six months, like I told you. After that you'll train with the team for another six months to perfect your combat skills." And suddenly Jim's offer sounded like heaven. But I couldn't give up that easily.
"And after?" I asked, calmly this time.
"This is ridiculous, Solar.""It's not. This isn't only my fault, is it? You told me I'm not ready yet and the next day you tell me to go out there alone. I'm a Soldier, I trained for this half of my life and all I get is to be locked in an office? I deserve better."
"You'll get your chance. But you need to work for it." Pff, my ass.
I was ready to tell him off but my phone vibrated next to me and I saw that it was from Sebastian. What a timing.'I know, we discussed about it after you left. Read your file, you're almost as good as I am. And Jim agreed that once you accepted we could team up.'-S.M
The text made me smirk. Jim really thought it through, even if it's just for his use.
"What, got a better offer?" Mycroft asked, smirking his I-am-superior smirk. But when I looked up his face fell.
"Not sure. Need to discuss some things first."He left with a weird chocking noise and dragged Anthea behind him. I watched the scene with a smirk and texted back.
'I don't know. I don't want to regret anything. It's the other side of Hollywood, you know what I mean ?'
'Talk with Jim about your concerns. Or not. I'm back soon. Did he tell you a due day?'-S.M
'No. He just left.'
There was no answer for a hour so I tried to concentrate on the stuff Mycroft and some other people sent to me. It was so much that I would take half of it home with me.
But at least there were no finances this time.
