It was January now. Classes were winding down in preparation for the final exams coming, and teachers were giving them free days to work on final projects left and right. Today was one of those days.

Sammie sat in her spot by the window in English class, not really paying attention to the question Ms McGowen was answering. She shifted her focus from the back of Theodore's head to the basketball game that was happening outside.

"Alright class, if there's no more questions, you can use the rest of the time to complete your summative tasks. Remember, they're due at the end of next week." Sammie had already finished her project and handed it in four days ago, so she grabbed a Chromebook to play Cool Math Games.

Theodore, who had also grabbed himself a laptop, migrated over to where Sammie was sitting herself on the windowsill. He peered over the screen that had been propped up on some binders to see the game that was loading on it.

"Wow Sharpie, not going to get any work done today?" he teased.

"You and I both know that I finished this project ages ago." she retorted unmaliciously.

Theodore smiled at her and moved to settle himself onto the windowsill next to her. He laid down, his head coming to rest on her legs, and his work abandoned.

Liam and Ryan had set up shop at Sammie's desk and the one next to it. Ryan's fedora - a purple and blue iridescent one today - sat on the table with their laptops. Sammie let Theodore lay on her lap, not really caring.

She played her game, Duck Life 4, in case you were wondering, and idly ran her fingers through his hair. Theodore didn't move, content to lay on Sammie's lap and make small talk with his friends who were working.

"Oh look, Rue has updated her Leonardo DiCaprio shrine!" pointed out Ryan.

"I can't believe the teacher actually let her make that in the class."

"Ikr."

"Hey, dude you still owe me for lunch the other day," Ryan reminded Liam.

"Oh yeah, I actually have some money in my bag. I might need change though."

"I can do that."

They both got up and headed over to their bags to try and count money. Cory got up and followed them, hoping to swipe some extra cash. He rode his sk8board across the class, ignoring the teacher's complaints. After all, he really couldn't trust his friends to do proper math.

Sammie took her attention off of her game for a second to look down at the boy who was laying in her lap. She spoke in a low voice,

"Hey, Theodore. You can take me out now"

The boy turned his head to look at her. "What?"

"I said, you can take me out now. Like, on a date."
