Theodore Solano was having trouble breathing properly. His heart was racing at a million miles per minute and his insides twisted with excitement. He abruptly sat up out of Sharpie's lap and spun around to look at her. "Really?" he asked. He hoped his voice didn't give away just how breathless he really was at the thought of being able to go out with her, something he'd wanted for a very long time now.

"Well, yeah, obviously." Sharpie replied. "I wouldn't have said so otherwise. I feel like it's been enough time since the funeral. I really did appreciate the closure that brought me."

"Enough time since the funeral? That was, like, 3 months ago"

Sharpie looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "Really? Are you complaining?"

Theo shook his head vigorously and opened his mouth to speak, but Sharpie continued. "I'll be honest with you, I was ready to let you take me out in December, but then between Christmas and the project I figured it should wait."

"I guess that makes sense." Theo layed back down on her lap and Sharpie resumed playing with his hair. "So where do you want to go?" he asked her.

She smiled down at him, "I thought that was for you to decide, since you wanted this so bad"

It was like any other day. After a long morning of classes, they were all having lunch when Theodore, being the sweet boyfriend he is, kissed Sammie on the cheek. Instantly, everyone at the table froze.

Cory and Quinton stared at them with wide eyes, Liam's sandwich fell to the ground with a splat. Ryan shouted, "YOU STARTED DATING AND NEVER TOLD US??"

Theodore grinned sheepishly and Sammie shrugged, continuing to eat her cereal. Suddenly Liam turned to Ryan and said, "I knew they had gotten together but you didn't believe me! You owe me 50 dollars!"

"That's not fair!"

"Yes it is!"

"no it's NOT!"

"Ryan, do you not know how bets work?"

"I will never sink as low as you and get involved with gambling!"

Suddenly Liam snatched Ryan's velvet crimson red fedora with a crystal brooch right off his head.

"Hey, give it back!" Ryan fumed.

"Come and get it," taunted Liam.

After a brief duel, Ryan succeeded in getting his fedora back. He was fuming though. "I can't even wear it now," he huffed, "it's all contaminated."

"Contaminated with what??" Liam asked, baffled.

"With your COOTIES." and Ryan sat back down, pouting and with his arms crossed.

"Okay then," said Cory and they all went back to eating.

After lunch, they headed to their afternoon classes. Cory, Liam, and Quinton had Math, while Ryan, Theo, and Sammie had History. Sammie and Theo sat down next to each other and Ryan sat behind them.

"Are you still mad at Liam?" asked Theo.

"No. I beat him at Connect Four so we're all good. It's generic but it's his favorite game." replied Ryan, twirling his peacock green fedora with gold embroidery

They turned to the teacher and listened to her drone on about inflation and the stock market and what not. Halfway through the class, some stupid kid spilled an entire waterbottle of apple juice. The teacher was furious! "THIS is why I don't allow any drinks other than water in the class. You! The one who spilled the juice! Go get a mop from the janitor's closet and clean it up."

"S-s-sorry M-miss, I don't k-know where i-it is..."

Theodore felt a little bad for the kid so he raised his hand. "I'm pretty well acquainted with the janitor's closet Ma'am. I can go get the stuff."

"And I can help," Sammie offered.

The two of them headed to the janitor's closet, and this time, Sammie took off her shoe and placed it in the doorway. "So we don't get locked in again," she explained.

However, a mission to retrieve a mop and bucket soon turned into a full blown first date. They started talking, laughing, and soon lost track of time. Suddenly they heard footsteps approaching the hallway. Oh no! How would they explain being out of class for so long? Thinking quickly, like the true intellectual he was, Theodore yanked Sammie's shoe into the closet and let the door shut.

The footsteps slowly subsided. Theo glanced at Sammie, who was kneeling beside him. Her eyes were shut and her lips were pursed.

"Theodore?" she asked in a calm yet deadly voice.

Theo gulped. "Yes dear?"

"Did you just lock us in AGAIN???"

"Uh, well, if you really considered the possible outcomes of the situation we were put in, this really was the best thing that could've happened to us."

So they sat. And tried the door. And sat some more. The look on Ryan's face when he found them in the closet (for the third time) was priceless.
