MacKenzies POV

My head was foggy, but I saw that gun clearly. My one last chance to get out of here......

I tried reaching for it. Charlie saw it too and started reaching for it as well. We both grabbed it at the same time. We both struggled to take control of it. This caused it to go off. Charlie leaned back to check himself over to see if he was hit, which allowed me to kick him off me. The second I had complete grip of the gun, I pointed it at him and held strong. I backed up slowly, making sure to keep the gun pointed at him. Once I was fully stood up I felt it. I was the one that was shot. And boy did that shit hurt but the only thing that mattered right now was making sure Charlie was never going to be able to do this to me or anyone else ever again. He backed away holding his hands in the air. Pleading with me not to shoot him.

"Look at that... just as weak as you were in my fucking drive way....." I mocked him. "Goodbye Charlie." I pulled the trigger. And down he went. I sighed with relief. I tucked the gun into the back of my jeans as I ran over to Charlie. I patted him down looking for his phone. Once I found it I called 9-1-1.

"9-1-1 whats your emergency." The first responder spoke.

"My name is MacKenzie James. I don't know where I am. I've been shot and I need help."

"Dispatching an ambulance to your location now. Miss James can you tell me what happened?" the operator asked.

"I was kidnapped, tied up and left in a concrete room. I was able to loosen the ropes enough to get free and I fought my attacker off. He's dead. We both struggled for the gun and it went off. I got hit. But I was able to get it from him and I killed him. I need an ambulance."

"The ambulance is just a couple minutes out."

"Can you do me a favor?" I asked.

"Of course, what can I do for you?"

"Can you call this number?" I asked giving her Brantley's number. "His name is Brantley. Can you tell him I'm okay and have him meet me at the closest hospital?"

"Of course I'll give him a call after the ambulance gets there. Can you hear the sirens yet?" She asked.

"Yes faintly but yes. I'm not sure where in the building I am. There's no windows and only the one door to come in and out." I was loosing a lot of blood and started to get light headed. I tried to control my breathing and applied more pressure to the wound.

"Okay MacKenzie Police and Paramedics have arrive on the scene. The police are going to come make sure that the room is clear before the paramedics come in." She told me. Just after she said that cops came flooding into the room. I turned over my gun and put my hands up.

"Clear!" A police officer yelled. The paramedics came running into the room to help me.

"Stay with us okay MacKenzie." One of the paramedics spoke as I started fading out.

Brantley's POV

I was laying in Kenzie's bed when my phone started ringing.

"Hello?" I answered

"Is this Brantley?" A lady spoke.

"Yes, who's this?"

"I'm a 9-1-1 operator. I just took a call from Miss MacKenzie James. She's going to be transported to Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital she asked that you meet her there."

"Thank you so much." I said. A felt a little relieved. MacKenzie got away. I got out of bed and ran down stairs. "They found her. She's on her way to the hospital now." I said while slipped my shoes on. I grabbed the keys and ran out the door. Rachel right behind me. I sped over to the hospital. MacKenzie was being rushed into surgery. From what the cop told me she killed Charlie and his accomplice. She fought for her life and she won. The cop said it was an open shut case and the likely that the state would press charges were slim to none. I was just glad Kenzie was alive. I called her parents and updated them. Her mother was so grateful.

I wasn't able to see her for almost four hours. When I walked in that room, sadness washed over me. She was black and blue with cuts and scrapes all over her face and her arms. She looked so peaceful in this moment. I bent down and kissed her forehead.

"I love you baby girl. I'm so sorry this happened." I whispered. I pulled a chair up and grabbed her hand. I waited for her to wake up. More hours passed, but she finally opened those blue eyes.

"Hey babe." I spoke softly.

"Oh B. I thought I was never going to see you again." She cried. I held her close to me trying to comfort her.

"It's going to be okay baby girl. You did so good. I'm so proud of you." I kissed her head.

"Is Kolby okay?" She asked.

"Kolby is just fine. Actually him and Rachel are out in the waiting room. I can go grab them if you want."

"Can you wait a few minutes? I just want to spend a little more time with you." She spoke, nuzzling herself deeper into my side. "I thought I'd never get to do this again." She said. I wrapped my arms around her holding her close. I didn't want to ever let her go.
