Brantley's POV
Kolby and I had moved our conversation to the garage, while MacKenzie was probably still pouting upstairs.
"I'm not sure what to do here, Kolby." I confessed.
"You're talking about the tour?" He asked. I nodded my head.
"MacKenzie won't go on tour with me and she won't let me send PJ with her to Nashville. How am I suppose to make sure she's safe from the confines of a god damn bus, half way across the fucking country?" I put my head in my hands.
"Why don't I go up with her." Kolby suggested. I looked up at him.
"You'd really do that for me?" I asked him.
"Of course I would. She is my friend too. I don't want to see anything bad happen to her." Kolby spoke. "Also she may not feel like she's being babysat if I'm there." He added.
"You've got a point there. But you two are gonna have to stay out of trouble." I laughed.
"I'll make sure to keep her out of jail." Kolby joked.
"That's my next problem. I need to figure out how to show this girl she's the one I want and no one else." I sighed. I thought I was doing a good job at that but I'm sure Kenzie could really use the reassurance right now.
"When's the last time you guys went out together? Like actually went out that wasn't for either of your careers?" Kolby made a good point. It's been sometime. We spent most of our time at the house, in the studio or fighting about this summer tour and Charlie.
"I see what you're saying." I said leaning on the bed of his truck.
"Speaking of that little spit fire, where is she?" Kolby asked. Causing me to chuckle.
"I spanked her and put her in a time out." I said trying so hard not to smile. But I couldn't help myself.
"You're kidding, right?" Kolby asked. I chuckled again. "Wow, you're not joking." Kolby laughed and shook his head.
"She probably hates me right now, but I'm not about to have her disrespect me because she fucked up." I shook my head. "That girls got a mouth on her."
"Yeah she does." Kolby laughed.
"So you'll really keep an eye on her in Nashville for me?" I asked, trying to get back on subject.
"Yeah. I mean why not. I'm not doing anything here. And it's not like it's forever, right? Just while you're on tour?" He asked.
"Yeah, or at least until I can convince Rachel to hire her a security guard." I said.
"So now that you've got that figured out. Are you excited for the tour?"
"Yeah, actually. We've got a bigger set this time. And we've added more to the show. I'm really stoked to see how it plays out." I smiled.
We sat out there talking for a while before the garage door opened, taking us both by surprise.
I didn't speak, I just looked up at her, waiting for an apology.
MacKenzie's POV
I had sat in the guest room for over an hour. I couldn't believe Brantley just spanked me like I was a damn child. Amber was pressing charges. And on top of it we were still disagreeing about Nashville. Not to mention the booze had started to wear off and I was starting to ache from the bar fight. I just wanted to go home.
I got up off the bed and went down stairs. I didn't hear the guys in the house so I went out to the garage. When I opened the door and stepped out, they both fell silent. Brantley looked up at me. The look on his face told me he was expecting something.
I walked over to him.
"I'm sorry for being rude to you earlier. You're right you deserve better than that." I said softly, looking at my feet. Brantley grabbed my chin tilting it, so I could meet his gaze.
"I forgive you." He smiled. Kissing my lips. When he pulled away from the kiss, he started inspecting my face. My cheek bone was a little swollen and my lip was split. Courtesy of the rings that decorated Ambers fingers.
"Still beautiful as ever." Brantley spoke. Causing me to blush. "So Kolby and I were talking. I've decided that when I go on tour, you can go back to Nashville under one condition." I listened to Brantley's words closely. Hanging in to each one of them. I held my breath while I waited for him to finish the negotiation. "Kolbys going to go with you until Rachel can find a suitable security guard for you. That or you are coming with me. There's no other options on the table. Your safety is my biggest concern." He spoke pulling me into his arms. It was quiet for a few minutes.
"Okay. I'll take Kolby with me." I spoke.
"Good. Can we stop fighting now? Spend the little bit of time we got together enjoying each other's company." Brantley asked cupping my face. I nodded my head and he leaned in and kissed me again. This time much longer.
"Get a room!" Kolby joked. Causing us to laugh.
"Will you take me home now?" I asked. "I'm super sleepy."
"I bet you are." Brantley chuckled.
"We will talk details tomorrow, Kolby." I said. "Oh and thanks for agreeing to go up with me."
"Actually, it was his idea." Brantley confessed.
"Well I greatly appreciate it." I smiled, hugging Kolby.
"It's my pleasure." He smiled back.
"We will see ya later, brother." Brantley said hugging Kolby. We started walking to the truck. I hopped in, Brantley not far behind.
Once he was in, he started the engine and we pulled off. The drive was silent all the way back to the house. It was a semi-tense, awkward silence. Once we were in the house I went upstairs to shower. Brantley didn't follow me up the stairs though. Silence still lingered.
When I was finished in the shower I put on a pair of underwear and one of Brantley's shirts. Heading down stairs to see if I could find him.
"B?" I questioned. Poking my head around to see if I could find him.
"I'm out on the back deck." I heard him say. I followed the smell of cigarette smoke. I stepped out in the cold wooden planks. Walking up to him."Are you going to come to bed? It's late." I asked.
"Yeah baby girl. I'm coming right now." He said, putting his cigarette out in the ash tray.
Brantley showered before climbing into bed with me. He death gripped me so I couldn't get away from him. We laid there watching a little tv before we both passed out.
