Brantley's POV

I woke up around 7:30am to see Kenzie still sleeping. I figured I'd let her sleep in. So I carried on with the morning. I showered then washed the sheets that were pulled last night. By the time the laundry was done Kenzie still hadn't come out of the bedroom so I went in to check on her.

"Kenz? You awake?" I cooed.

"Yeah. I'm just not feeling well." Her voice cracked.

"Do you need anything?" I asked rubbing her back trying to comfort her.

"No thanks." She said. I leaned down and kissed her head before heading out of the bedroom. As I was walking down stairs I could hear my phone ringing. I looked at the screen and saw Luke's number.

"Hey man, how's it going?" I answered the phone.

"It's going, are you still feeling...under the weather?" Luke teased me for the excuse MacKenzie was forced to give last night.

"No I'm feeling much better today, but I think Kenz has a stomach bug or something. She's not feeling well. She was up for a while last night." I said.

"Well tell her I said I hope she gets better. I was calling to see if you wanted to go to Bass Pro Shop with me, hunting seasons well underway. I have needs." Luke said causing me to chuckle.

"I don't need to hear about your needs..I'll go shopping with ya. Let me just let Kenzie know."

"Great I'll scoop ya up. See you soon B."

I hung up the phone and went upstairs to get dressed and let Kenzie know I was stepping out with Luke for a bit.

Luke's POV

"Luke baby, I need a favor. I need you to get Brantley away from MacKenzie for a while." Caroline came up to me holding her phone.

"Why? Are they fighting again?" I chuckled.

"No. I'm gonna tell you something but this stays between us. Swear on it." Caroline spoke looking me dead I the eyes with a cold serious look on her face. I stopped what I was doing and gave her my full attention.

"Swear!" I said hold my right hand up.

"MacKenzie wants to go to the hospital. She's pretty sure she had a miscarriage last night." Caroline spoke in a low soft tone, to be sure only the two of us could hear. My jaw dropped and I covered my mouth in a silent gasp.

"Oh my, is she okay?" I asked. "Of course she's not that's why she wants to go the hospital." I said realizing the answer to my own question.

"So do you think you can keep Brantley occupied for a while. I'll send you updates."

"Yeah I'll call him." I said. "But wait, did she know she was pregnant?" I asked.

"By the way she's acting I don't think she knew." Caroline said honestly. "Something tells me if she did know, she wouldn't have been drinking last night." Caroline walked away and I pulled my phone out to call Brantley. I was able to get him to agree so now the rest was up to Caroline.

MacKenzie's POV

Once I heard the front door close, I carefully got out of bed and threw on some sweatpants and a hoodie. I slipped on a pair of Uggs. Caroline texted me saying she was here so I grabbed my things and headed out to her car. Once I got in and got comfortable we started the drive to the hospital.

"Thanks for doing this with me." I spoke looking over to her.

"Anything for you Kenzie. Luke and I won't say a word." Caroline said giving me a small smile. "You didn't know, did you?"

"No." I whispered. Tearing up a little.

"It'll be okay Kenz." Caroline tried to sooth me. I just nodded my head.

When we arrived at the hospital I was seen almost immediately. I was sitting in my hospital room waiting for the doctor to come in. The RN on duty just finished taking my vitals and was now opening a urine cup for me to go pee in.

Caroline and I sat in silence while we continued to wait for what seemed like hours but was merely minutes. The door opened and white lab coat cladded lady joined us. She examined me and then delivered the diagnosis.

It was exactly as I thought. I was a month and a half to two months along. I thought back, it had to be the night my album released. She gave me some pain medicine for the cramps that would hopefully go away in the next few days. Also telling me to avoid any intercourse for a couple weeks before leaving me to get dressed so I could be discharged.

Caroline drove me to the pharmacy then back to the house.

"Are you going to tell him?" She asked. I shook my head.

"There's no point too. We both have our careers. Tours after the holidays. When would we find the time to raise a baby? We haven't even been together a year. We haven't made it through one week without fighting since he's gotten home from the tour." I spoke. "I think it's best if I just don't say anything."

"Well if you ever need to talk or need another covert hospital trip, Luke and I are here for you." Caroline spoke.

"Thank you." I smiled weakly at her. She came over and hugged me before looking down at her phone that just went off.

"Luke is on his way back with B. Don't forget to cut your bracelet off. I'm gonna head out." Caroline spoke while gathering her things. "Take care of yourself Kenzie."

"Thanks again for everything." I said as she walked out. I headed to my music room. I popped one of the pain pills in my mouth then threw them in my desk drawer under some old notebooks. I sat back and sighed thinking about the events over the last 24 hours. I just tried to tell myself that it was probably for the best. I grabbed my guitar and started playing a couple chords. I didn't want to think about it anymore. So I dove into my work. Constantly reminding myself, it was for the best.
