MacKenzie's POV
I woke up the next morning with a slight hangover and the worst crick in my neck from sleeping on the sofa. I sat up slowly trying to work the knot out groaning at the pinching pain.
I noticed a piece of paper with something scribbled on it. I snatched it off the table, reading the small note.
Good Morning MacKenzie.
I hope you slept well. If you aren't too hung over to maybe meet up with me for lunch tomorrow? If you're feeling up to it you should let me know. But please leave the fire arms at home.I don't think you're gonna need it.
Brantley
(phone number)I laughed at the last part of his note. Memories of last night were slowly creeping into my head. Pieces and fragments that were all jumbled and barely made sense. I grabbed my phone and went to text Brantley. I saw that I had texted Rachel so I was curious if my dazed memory could be cleared up from our texts. As I read the texts I was finally able to put all the pieces together. I sat there smiling to myself like a freaking idiot. Brantley drove me home last night. On top of that, drunk me was certainly kind to sober me. Drunk me also managed to get Brantley's phone number. I mentally patted myself on the back for that one. I slowly got up and made my way to the bathroom for a shower. Once finished I got out and quickly got ready for the day.
I slipped on a pair of converse then headed back to living room where my phone was. I punched in the number Brantley left for me and sent a text.
Mac: Good Morning, I'm assuming you left your number because I didn't do anything drunk and stupid to embarrass myself and scare you away.
B: Good morning to you too. And trust me when I say it's going to take a lot more than a drunk conversation and a sassy attitude to scare me off.
I smiled to myself noticing how quickly he responded. Almost like he was sitting there starring at his phone waiting for it to go off. Even though I'm sure that was not the case. I could imagine though, right??
B: Did you sleep well?
Mac: I slept too hard. My neck is stiff from the sofa. But I'll live. Thank you for stepping in and making sure I got home safe. You're a true gentleman.
