Naruto's languid eyes opened to the sound of Jiraiya and Meilani bickering. The achiness in his bones screamed with every involuntary flinch. The bright, early morning light shone through the hospital window, revealing the floating dust in it's sun rays. His belly shook with laughter when he heard his sister call Jiraiya a pervy old man.
"She called you Pervy," Naruto's head leaned towards his sister's as she knelt beside him. "You look like crap."
She flicked his nose. Meilani moved her overgrown bangs away from her sunken eyes. "Jerkface. I'm not the one wrapped up like a mummy."
Jiraiya leaned against the wall with a smile. He listened to the two share heartfelt words before cutting Naruto off at the mention of finding Sasuke.
"Sasuke left on his own terms, to train with Orochimaru. He's on a quest for vengeance, and is looking for as much power as possible. You have bigger concerns, Naruto."
Naruto sat up, his nostrils flaring. "What could be more important than bringing Sasuke home?!"
Meilani put a hand on his shoulder. And despite the dark circles under her eyes, and the splitting headache, her expression remained hardened. "Making sure you're prepared for the Akatsuki."

A Few Hours Earlier.....

Jiraiya knocked on Meilani's door with the tip of his sandal, two boxes of sweet breakfast pastries in one hand and a few to-go coffee cups in a drink carrier in the other. He let out a bored sigh after the 3rd try, and placed them delicately on the ground before teleporting to her balcony. He tried to knock again but still, nothing. He climbed along the side of the wall and peaked into Mei's window. The very sight made his eyes widen and his mouth gape like a fish.
Kakashi slept with his masked face towards the window, the soft glow of dawn not yet peering through. Around his chest was Mei's arm, held there by his hand. In his sleep, Kakashi turned over and pulled her further into his body.

"My, oh my. I knew I sensed something in the hospital." He scrambled for his pen and notebook, jotting down inspiration sloppily. He was so focused on not letting the parchment slip from his knee, he didn't notice Meilani stir and lift herself to her elbows. As she pecked Kakashi's cheek, she noticed the Sanin outside her window.
"Kakashi, wake up."
The urgency in her tone spiked his adrenaline. As he shot up and looked towards the window, Meilani opened it and simultaneously flung her legs out while her fingers gripped the windowpane. As her kick landed on his chest, Jiraiya was hurled a few feet before he caught himself on a street lamp.
"You old PERVERT!" Mei shouted from a crouched position on her window. "I'm telling Tsunade!" She climbed back in and slammed her window shut.
"Was he... Watching us sleep?" Kakashi rose, trying to calm his racing heart.
"Looked like it," she peaked her head out of the closed curtains to see him collecting paper. "And writing?! Ugh, the creep."
Kakashi looked around with a flushed expression. "I think I'm going to go."
Her brows knitted together. "What, why? If he already saw... Kakashi,"
She stared in disbelief as he gathered his Shinobi clothes, glancing at the bathroom before shaking his head.
"I just.... He'll get the wrong impression-"
"He'll get a worse one if you take off." Meilani moved back when he leaned in for a kiss. "Kakashi."
He hesitated, watching her hardened face turn red in both anger and embarrassment. But her eyes pleaded with him, the crease between her brows arching upwards. A small dimple on the bottom left corner of her chin.

"Don't leave me." Her voice threatened to falter. Kakashi felt shame flood his body, replacing the adrenaline that kept him from thinking clearly. If he were to leave now, what would that say to Meilani about their future?
He couldn't abandon her.
"I'm sorry, baby." He dropped the clothing in his arm and pulled her to him. "I panicked. But you're right."
She swallowed against the muscles constricting her throat, and nodded appreciatively. She relaxed into his hold, cupping the back of his neck.
"Thank you." She pecked his lips.

Kakashi pulled his mask down and returned a more passionate one. As she arched herself into him, he groaned. Recalling her behavior last night, he slid his hands to her hips and grip her firmly.
Kakashi's lips found his way to her ear after she pulled away blushing. "Don't be shy now."
His warm breath sent chills down her neck. A sigh escaped against his ear at the sensation of his lips trailing down her throat. His fingers gliding their way over her hips and across her butt...
