Might Guy and his team departed from the Hokage's office and went their separate ways. Everyone besides Lee, of course. Guy beamed with pride when he asked to train immediately after returning from a mission. After having breakfast, the two made their way towards the training grounds.
Guy's thick eyebrows raised at Kakashi, who was already standing at the Memoriam. And this early in the morning?
"Good morning, Kakashi!" He waved happily. Kakashi's head snapped out of his thoughts and towards Guy and Lee.
"Good morning, Kakashi-sensei!"
"Good morning. Hey Guy, can we talk for a moment?" Kakashi apologized to Minato, Rin, and Obito. Promising to come back and finish his thoughts later, he quickly walked towards the two."Sure! But first, why don't we race to the training grounds?"
"Great idea, Guy-sensei!"
Not great, Mei's still training. The silver-haired jonin quickly cut him off. "It'll only take a moment."
"Ha! Afraid I'll get ahead of you once more? Come on Kakashi, that's not very youthful."
The next few minutes consisted of Kakashi trying to convince Guy to slow down. He huffed as Guy took his persistence as being afraid to lose. With Mei's scent approaching fast, he abandoned the "race" and sped towards his girl.
The Kunoichi jumped back when Kakashi leaped in front of her. She crossed her arms and cocked her hip to the side.
"What the hell, Kash? I'm in the middle of my tai-"
"Guy's back. He's-"
"Beat by mere seconds again!"
"You will surely be victorious next time, Guy-sensei."
Meilani stiffened, her eyes were saucers as she stared between Guy, Lee, and Kakashi. She quickly recovered before he drew his attention towards her.
"Well, if it isn't my angelic Princess! What a relief it is to see you back in Konoha!"
Mei watched Kakashi stick his right fist into his pocket with uneasiness. When Guy moves towards embracing Mei, he placed his left hand on Guy's shoulder. Guy paused at the firmness of his touch, raising a brow at the action."Why don't we give Meilani some space? She's been through much recently." He spoke in a calm tone. Guy chuckled, moving Kakashi's hand off of him before taking a step back.
"Of course. I'm sorry I wasn't there to help recover you, Meilani. Lady Tsunade needed my skills elsewhere." Guy gestured to himself with his thumb, smiling. "Fortunately, Lee was available for Kurenai to take."
Sure, that's what happened. Kakashi thought. His nose twitched from the disturbed dirt, and he noticed Mei glide one foot behind the other. She hid the foot shaking to each side rapidly.
"It was fortunate, you've done an amazing job at teaching Lee your Leaf Hurricane technique."
The two looked like the were close to blushing. Meilani felt tightness in her chest, her breaths grew a bit shorter the more Kakashi glared at an oblivious Guy."I-if I recall, Lee, it was part of a plan you guys formed?"
"Indeed, Meilani-sensei. It was Kakashi-sensei's idea to initiate the technique first."
"Was it?"
"It was," Kakashi replied, taking a step towards Mei. "Meilani's safety is.... A high priority of mine."
Meilani felt her heart in her throat while moving towards Kakashi's side. "And... Kakashi's is a high priority of mine."
Lee's thick brows scrunched together. He glanced at the two in front of him, and then his sensei beside him. Guy's smile softened to a slight grin.
"So, you could say Kakashi and I share the same priorities now." His hand clenched passionately. "Well, my rival, it's about time you see Meilani as a wonder like I do. My only hope now is that you treat her like the royalty she is."
"You don't have to worry, Guy." He shifted his weight towards Mei. She smiled softly, holding her hands together. "I'm grateful I have the chance to do so."
Meilani opened her mouth to speak, but couldn't find the strength to form words. Guy lifted his hand to stop her before he offered it.
"You don't need to explain anything, Mei. I am truly happy for you two."
She couldn't do anything but give her hand and a teary smile as he bowed. As he turned to leave, she pulled him into a tight hug. Guy squeezed her frame gently before he pulled away with a smile.
"Come, Lee! Let's do 50 laps around the village. On our hands!"
"Yes, Guy-sensei." Lee, eyebrows lowered, followed his sensei obediently. Back turned, and elbows wide from his body, Lee gave Meilani one last cold look before departing.
