I changed into black jeans, and a large white tee shirt that belonged to Michael. It hung loosely on me, but was insanely comfortable, and a much better option than my tattered shirt that I wore the night I arrived here.
I grabbed my sword and headed out the door. Michael was already outside and fully dressed, he looked tired as hell but offered me a faint smile as I walked towards him and the Brit. "You guys ready?" I said as I slid my sword into its holder.
There were clouds in the distance, they were dark grey and offered a gloomy and almost ominous look, but they were far off and we had plenty of time to gather food.
Apparently animals were hard to come by at times on this island, the guys had been here forever and never really bread animals. Luckily they had plenty of ingredients to make food, so we wouldn't starve.
The air in the woods was heavy and humid, and birds were quiet. Fear grew inside me, I hated thunderstorms. Michael probably thought that I outgrew that by now. It was such a childish fear. I could take down a horde of zombies no problem but harmless thunder made me tremble.
"Gavin shut the fuck up." Michael groaned, I hadn't really been listening to their conversation, I was lost in my thoughts the whole time.
"But micooooo." Gavin whined. "It's a perfectly reasonable question. Do babies float?"
"Gavin what the fuck?" I piped up from beside Michael. "Is that what you two have been talking about?"
"Have you not been here for the last twenty minutes?" Michael joked as he smiled down at me.
Michael wasn't tall but he was taller than me, who gave him the right?
There was a rustle from in front of us and Gavin aimed his bow at the source of the sound quickly as Michael and I drew our swords.
A cow popped into view and I breathed a sigh of relief as Gavin shot it. I don't know why the sound had scared me so much, I was just so on edge about the storm that's on it's way I guess.
"Are you okay?" Michael said quietly from beside me. In response I only nodded, I wasn't in the mood to be picked on for my irrational fear.
We walked a little ways more and chatted about nothing, as we walked we managed to bag two chickens as well.
"We should head back." I said as I turned my attention to the storm that was over the town now.
Gavin yawned and nodded. Michael scoffed. "Pussies, it isn't even dark."Michael crossed his arms, but smiled warmly to reassure that he was joking.
We started to walk back but from here I could hear the crack of thunder, I winced slightly at the distant sound, happy that neither Michael nor Gavin noticed. Although the clouds were closing in fast and I had a sinking fear set in.
We were probably going to get trapped out here for the night.
As time passed Michael picked up on that too. "Maybe we should find a cave to hide out in tonight, It would suck dicks to get trapped in the storm." He groaned.
"I know the perfect place!" Gavin chirped as he began to lead us to a nearby cave.
It was a fairly small cave, it didn't wind off in different directions and didn't have places for mobs to hide, but provided more than enough shelter for the three of us. It was perfect, and made me realize that Gavin had to know these woods pretty well.
I tossed my bag on the floor, as did Michael. I knelt down and placed my sword gently next to our bags. I had a diamond sword that I managed to craft a while ago, it was slightly beaten but still sharp as hell. The sword was my prized piece and I treated it with care. It was unlikely that id be able to make another one anytime soon.
A lark crash of thunder shook my bones and rain slammed against the ground outside our cave. I jumped and let out a whimper. Michael instinctively reached out towards me, as if I were in any real danger as soon as he noticed my fear.
Gavin looked at me confused. "You're scared of thunder?" He said laughing slightly. "You jumped in front of an arrow without hesitation but the storm scared you?" He joked and in response I simply glared at him.
