{THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 100 READS <3}

I woke up to a faint mumbling across the room, their voices were hushed but I knew they were talking about me. My throat felt raw and dry and it felt like there were a thousand knives in my chest.

Wait, I was shot, I remember Michael got hurt and then I fought, it was still blurry. I went to push myself up just so I could sit, and stop feeling so helpless, it sent pain shooting through my upper body. A faint groan escaped my lips and I laid back down (not that I had gotten very far anyways).

The previous events were a blur but were sinking into my head. "M-Michael?" My voice was hoarse but I knew whomever else was in the room was able to hear me. Speaking made the pain in my chest pierce and feel sharper, it was close to my lungs but I could breathe fine, and I'm alive, just a little bent up.

"A-Annie?" The voice next to me sounded sleepless, and scared, maybe even desperate. It was Michael, it sounded like he was ready to cry, but he never cried. I blinked a few times and turned my head slightly to look up at him. A reassuring smile curled my lips and I reached up to gently touch his face.

"Hey dude." I mumbled, my voice still felt weak, and my mouth tasted dry and sour but Michael seemed really worried.

Some more steps from across the room came close and Ryan came into my sight. He had a sympathetic look on his face. "Feeling okay?" Something seemed off, like they were trying to talk a bomb out of exploding. What happened?

Wait. Shit, I teleported. Somehow in the mist of confusion I forgot what got me into this mess.

"Ryan are you a-alright?" I said a faint cough rising out of me forcing pain into my chest. My eyes wandered trying to avoid confrontation, avoiding what I expected to be anger, or a glare, or worst of them all. Fear.

I focused my eyes on his chest. He had changed from earlier. Which was logical since while he held me I was pouring blood like a sink.

Michael looked slightly angry. He shook his head quickly and his curls bounced. "Why the hell are you apologizing, you fucking saved him!" Fear. Or sadness I wasn't sure. Since we were kids he hid his real emotions with a blanket of rage, it kept people from trying to ask questions.

"But-"

I couldn't say more before Ryan cut me off with a calm and soft voice, it felt warm and relaxing. He spoke like he was talking to a wounded animal, which would normal anger me. As if he were trying to patronize me but right now it felt right. I needed it. "Say but later when you're feeling alright." Ryan smiled faintly. "You can explain later."

I sorted out my thoughts ready to protest but Jacks voice interrupted from the doorway. "Is she awake?"

"Yea" Ryan replied.

Michael look slightly anxious, as if he didn't want to leave my side just yet, there was so much to explain and even with time to think I know my mind will wind up blank.

"Can Her and I be alone for a moment please." He had a reassuring smile, I didn't know jack that well but he seemed nice. Obviously the most nurturing out of the guys. Almost like a mom.

Before Michael could protest, Ryan pulled him out with him, and they closed the door quietly behind them.

Jack came up to my bed and sat beside it, come to think of it, whose house am I in? I looked up at jack, I must've look confused and terrified. Well because I was. What is they didn't want me to stay anymore? "How long have I been out?"

"A few days." Jack said softly. "Can you sit up yet."

"I'm a pretty stubborn person, I'm sure I could. It just hurts like hell." I said loosening up slightly, trying to protect myself with something witty or sly but I came up pretty empty.

"Alright." He helped me up without even asking, it still hurt but much much less this time around. I rested my back against the wall.

We chattered about nothing while he cleaned up my wound. I'm not sure why he didn't bring up the teleportation thing, or why i would almost die for someone I barley knew. Truth is I don't know how well I could answer any questions.

Once he finished he smiled, looking proud of his work. "Thank you" he said softly. I furrowed my eyebrow and tilted my head slightly.

"Shouldn't I be thanking you?" I asked stunned and confused.

"Nah, you used yourself as a shield for my best friend without hesitation." He stood up. "Would you be comfortable explaining what happened though? The guys and I need to know.." He paused and smiled even more. "Don't worry though. You're safe." Those words felt so right. Like it would be okay, I didn't really know what to say so I just nodded.
