I felt weak, and like I had been ran over a million times. Jack was nice enough to have the guys come inside the house so I wouldn't have to get up yet, although to be honest fresh air sounded pretty ideal.
Michael was the first one to rush in, he basically sprinted to my bedside with a scared smile and tired eyes. "Hey Mikey." I mumbled softly.
The rest of the guys followed behind him, they were all much more calm. Waves of worry seemed to be printed into all of their faces. Worry, anxiety, possible fear, bubbling in all six men. I could tell most of the guys were trying to look strong.
Geoff moved Michael to the side so he could be closest and sat in a wooden chair next to the bed that I have apparently been camped out on for days.
"Care to explain?" His voice had a very serious tone to it, but it almost seemed understanding, and curious more than anything.
"Hell where do I start?" I said, a faint smirk on my face.
-FLASHBACK-
My surroundings all seemed to blend into one large abstract photo, that I couldn't understand. Fire twisted through the haze, and muffled voices and cries came from the image. One voice cut through the confusion.
Michael.
I tried to scream, yell, cry out, but how could I do that when I couldn't even breathe. It felt like I was under a building. My chest felt tight, and pressure piled on every inch of my body.
Michaels voice slowly disappeared, growing more distant with every moment, all I had to do was scream. Why the hell couldn't I scream?
The crazy mix of colors and emotion faded to black, with an interrupted of a few moments that cut in and out of my memories. I was pulled out from under something by two men in lab coats.
I woke up to find myself in a white hospital gown, my long hair was down resting gently against my back. The room surrounding me was all white, and I was strapped to a chair. I struggled in the restraints in an attempt to escape, but to no avail.
I noticed a needle in my arm, sending a thick purple liquid through my veins. It glowed slightly.
What happened?
No other solutions to my problem came to my mind so I screamed. I yelled profanities, and threats, and nonsense, trying to get the attention of whomever put me here. Around my neck there was a cuff, if was tight like a chocked but let me easily breathe. It was metal, and cold against my throat.
"Calm down dear." I guess I was unable to hear the door over my screams. In the doorway stood a very tall and thing woman, her long blonde hair went to her butt, and she wore a lab coat with tight black jeans, and tall white boots."Don't make this hurt more than it needs to."
My eyes grew wide. What did she mean.
Little did I know that this was the first day of 6 years of torment.
It lead to the death of friends, and allies. She let pain overtake ever part of my body and every inch of my skin over the years, and wore me out physically and mentally, that place changed me. It destroyed me.
-PRESENT-
My vision blurred slightly and I realized there were tears in my eyes, I hadn't even explained it all. In my head it was so detailed, so graphic, all of it was still images burnt into my head. I could feel my body shake slightly, and my chest felt heavy again, but this time I wasn't stuck under something, I was having a panic attack. Now I don't get them often but I still get them enough, mostly after nightmares.
Everyone seemed understanding. Geoff gently place his hand in my thigh. "Don't worry alright?" His smile felt so warm and safe. "Explain the rest when you feel comfortable." His eyes had a soft expression, he looked almost father like.
"W-we're gonna protect you! Y-You're safe here!" The words fumbled out of Gavin's mouth. Those words were the last thing I expected from him. His cool exterior he played before seemed to break, he genuinely seemed flustered and worried. I offered him a faint smile."
"Thank you."
"Uh guys?" Michael rubbed the back if his head awkwardly. "Can I talk to annie alone for a minute?"
No one whined or argued, gavin seemed ready to but ray drug him out with everyone else. Once the door was closed Michael turned back to me with sad eyes.
It was all quiet and awkward for a moment, and then I felt his warm embrace. His smell was comforting, his arms felt like home to me. It took me a moment to realize that the all-mighty Mogar was...
Crying?
"I'm sorry." His voice was muffled by my shirt. I stoked his back reassuringly.
"Why?" I couldn't understand much of anything right now, Mogar never cries.
"I left you alone. I should've looked more. I-I was so close to you and I left you behind!" He sobbed into my shirt. "It's all my fault you were in that hellhole for so long! I mean, come on! Six fucking years all thanks to me." He was basically yelling into my shoulder, but I didn't mind. I wrapped my arms around him, even though it hurt to move so much.
I smiled faintly, tears were slipping from my eyes now. I whispered a phrase he told me far to often when we were little and I asked him what was wrong; "Mogar Never cries."
