"Ow," you groan as you slowly start to come to. You rub your head a bit where you got hit when you fell down. You look around and realize you were still in the cave and it was a dead end.
Midnight was nowhere to be found. You go back to the cave entrance and realize it was light outside. You frown a bit as you step outside, having expected it to be dark already. Judging by the way the sun was positioned you could see it was rising instead of setting.
Your eyes widen a bit wondering how long you were passed out.You run as fast as you could back to the house, knowing your aunt and uncle were probably worried about you. Probably had a search party look for you all night.
You were so focused on getting back home you didn't notice your surroundings. It took you to trip over a tree root before you looked around and realize it was a completely different environment.
Instead of an arid landscape it was more woodsy and...mountainous? You weren't sure."Okay, where the hell am I?" you ask yourself. Entering the cave and then walking out the same way only to enter was what like a different world. If the cave were a wardrobe you would've thought this was Narnia.
You take out your cell phone checking to see what time it was. To your surprise there were no bars, which meant any chance of calling for help was out of the question. You look around, wondering if Midnight was possibly around.
You hear a horse neighing and traverse the trail towards the sound.
You stop when you saw the horse in your sights.
It wasn't Midnight, however. It was a chestnut mare, one you didn't recognize. She was saddled, indicating someone rode her out here recently. You didn't see anyone else around, so you approach the mare who was receptive when you stroke her nose.
You hear the sound of another horse nearby. You look to see it was a black stallion also saddled. Neither of these horses was the one you were looking for.
"I don't suppose either of you have seen a black gelding nearby have you?" you inquire of the horses. Of course neither the mare or stallion answered you, not in any way you would've been able to understand.Suddenly you hear a screeching sound in the distance. It was a sound like you never heard before. The two horses were acting nervous, which you knew was not a good sign. You look around, scanning your surroundings. You check your pockets; the only thing you had to defend yourself if needed was a Swiss army knife.
Suddenly a creature with wings swooped over you and land in front of you looking like it was ready to attack. To you, the creature seemed to resemble a dragon. You knew your pocket knife wasn't going to do much good, which meant your only real option was to turn and run and hope you could outrun this thing.
The dragon-like monster took to the sky as soon as you started running. You jumped over tree roots and rocks as you run, not daring to look behind you lest you slow down and get caught. You didn't know where you were going; in your panicked state in trying to survive, you lost track of where the cave was.
The monster was gaining speed, and swiped its claws at you, barely scraping your side. You were too full of adrenaline at this point to notice though. You kept running, but ended up tripping over some rocks, which sent of tumbling down a rather steep incline.By the time you came to a stop, thanks to hitting a tree, you were covered in scrapes and cuts and was pretty much in pain.
The monster landed and slowly stalked you, having finally worn out its prey and about to make the killing blow. You close your eyes, preparing for the inevitable. If you were lucky this was just some crazy dream you were having. You were hoping you were really still back in the cave passed out and probably had a search party looking for you on the ranch.Suddenly a figure jumped out from the bushes, sword in hand and slashed at the monster. Hearing the monster cry out in pain, you open your eyes, seeing the figure before you was a man dressed in red and black and sword in hand.
As you slowly stand on your feet, you spot two more figures surround the creature, both dressed in dark clothing and armor. One you noticed had white hair on his head.
The three men took turns swiping and slashing at the monster. It took some time but then one of the men made some kind of sign with his hands and fire formed, burning the creature and causing it pain. It took mere seconds before all three men finally finished it off.
Once the monster was dead the three men turned to you, finally back on your feet. You were bloodied and covered in bruises and scratches at this point.
As soon as you stood, knowing you were safe, the adrenaline had worn off, and you felt the pain on your side from getting swiped at by the monster."Hey, are you okay?" was the last thing you heard from one of the men as you collapsed and lost consciousness.
