"I said page 116, Scarlett,"
My math teachers harsh voice brings me down to earth,
"Stop staring out of the window and open the text book."I jolt my head around so fast that a sharp pain shivers down my neck, causing me to wince.
"S-sorry" I mumble whilst blushing a tremendous shade of red. Damn you pale skin!
"Hmph" she holds her glare on me before looking away,
"Anyway, since the rest of you are paying attention, let's continue with the lesson."And with one quick movement, the class's attention comes off of me. Thank god. Since it's term one of year 9, I haven't made any solid friends in maths yet, so I sit alone, drawing in my book.
"Urgh I hate maths.." I mumble to myself while putting my arms on the table and resting my head on them.
Knock knock
I look up to the door to see who it is, to find a girl who could be in our year that I had never seen before.
She has the most amazingly red hair that can't be natural, and tan skin.
Ms Kingsley looks up from the text book to send a glare at the girl,
"You're late." She states before looking back at the book.
"No, actually, I'm Poppi..."
The red haired girl, Poppi, looks innocently at ms Kingsley, before smiling.
"You're new...aren't you?..." Ms Kingsley states rather than questions with a blank expression on her tight, botoxed face,
"I'm assuming you've signed in?Poppi nods her head quickly, flashing a cute dimpled grin at her.
Ms Kingsley scans the room trying to find an empty desk before she sighs, pointing at the spare desk beside me at the back,
"That blonde girl is Scarlett, sit beside her," she says slowly, taking one more glance around, obviously she doesn't want me to 'persuade' her to join the dark side with me. Well, what can I say? The dark side is fun.I'm kidding, I'm not on the dark side, I just hate Ms Kingsley with a passion, is that so bad?
Poppi turns to look where the teacher is pointing, before spotting me and smiling shyly at me.
As she makes her way over, the boys in the class stare at her in awe and the girls stare in jealousy and quite honestly I would too if she didn't seem shy.
Her red hair is hung in a choppy bob level with her chin, and she's tall and thin with green eyes. The green dress that is our uniform, stands out against her tan skin.
I quickly put my head back onto my arms and start scribbling on the page so she doesn't feel awkward.
"Hey" she whispers,
I turn to look at her and offer her a small smile,
"Hey""Is she always this, uh-"
"Bitchy? Harsh? Stupid?" I offer with a sarcastic smile,
"I was going to say grumpy" She giggled
I smiled a small smile at her before returning to scribbling on the corner of my maths book. The classes soft chatter in the background.
She cleared her throat,
"I'm guessing you don't like maths?..."Urgh, a conversation? I'm too tired.
Scarlett, be nice, she's new and you're a ducking loner.
I clear my throat too,
"No, I like maths...what I don't like, is Ms Kingsley."
I steal a glare at the teacher who is looking smug out the front of the class while showing off her algebraic skills.
