Part 89: Challenge to Find the Truth (unfnished)

"We need to decide about Hawks," Shine said, after giving Shoto a moment to compose himself.

"We have to tell someone," Shoto said. "Whoever he's working for, there has to be a way to find out."

"Who would want OVerhaul taken out who is not the League, or heroes?" Shine wondered.

"I don't know, but if they could get a top Pro to work for them, they must be formidable. Still, I can't believe he gave in." Shotos couldn't imagine doing such a thing, no matter how he was pressured.

"You could ask your father," Shine said, slowly.

"I should warn him, but he probably doesn't know any more than I do."

"He ight. /if he acted surprised, then no, but if he doesn't, then he knew something. You could get away with asking him about it, but no one else could. So, I can't do it with you."

"I see," Shoto WA afraid of what she was implying. Like his father might turn on someone if they found out, and weren't his prodigy.

Shine faced him. "When you ask him, don't mention the LOV was there, or any of the rest of us. Don't mention Eri either. IF he figures it out, oh well, but, better if he can't connect the events. Listen to what he says closely. If he tell you sot mind your business, he's afraid of you knowing. If he explains, but it's vague, then he's trying to stop you from asking more questions. If he's fully honest, which is highly unlikely if he was aware...then he'll want you not to share it. I guess it's up to you what to do in that case."

"Why are you so...businesslike about this?" Shotos didn't epx her to be as upset as he was but she was still much clmaer than he thought anyone whsoudl be.

"Well, it's not entirely a spuripse to me," Shine tiled her head. "Remember I know about Dabi all along. I suspected Endeavor had some inkling that Hakws might have set him up, or at lea tmight be mized up with League, since he didn't seem incredibly surprised by that attack. I don't think he knows who Dabi is, but he seems to know he's got a personal problem with him, beyond him being the no#1 hero."

"I still don't know if I should tell him who Dabi is." Shotos rubbed his face. 

"For now, I Wouldn't. DAib is planning to reveal it on his own, an fnrklay, the'rs nothing your father can do to sopt him. Beggign wont' work. IF anytinwa stop change his mind, it would be to feel it's not longer worth it. A huge reactiong ot this wuld ha th opsot effect," Shine sighed. "It's a shame people have to choose revenge over trying to work things out."

"How could anything be worked out? He's a killer." Shotos shuddered. "But yet he's still family... but how could he do all those things to other people just because of us?"

"It's not so one note. Angry peoel are easily inl by cult like thinking. STain got him interested in it, but the LEague is  a menas to an end. IF he likes them at all, he still views it mostly as just a way to get his revenge. But he agrees with their aims enough to help them in the meantime. Your brother isn't just some two demons cartoon villain who only wants to kill their neemis. Poe have many reason to do what they do. But resentment is at the core of all of it. He still has'tn told me all of it, but it seems his quirk being bad for him is a big part of it."

"FAther would know more about that then I would," Shoto said.

"You could ask him what happened, but be careful. I'm sure he'd want to know why you're suddenly interested. He might put it together." Shine shook hea head now. "What a mess."

"I guess your family never rhad this happen."

"The pshcos in my family are not the ones who have any real idealogy or actual reason to take revenge. Te're just the bullies who got away with it because itw as in their nature and the other enabled them," Shine glaned up. "i'd find it easier to deal with someone who had a rlealy roasn...or maybe not. Maby it's harder to justify yourself if there was a real wrong done."
