Shine was a little scratched up from Mimic dragging her all the way here after she'd left the others. She hadn't put up much of a fight when the wall opened, because she thought it would take her to Eri.
"Ah, there you are," Overhaul spoke to Shine, with annoyance.
Some of his goons were there, she thought she recognized Shin, the one who could make people tell the truth, and Setsuno, who could steal things very much like how she could summon them. They were standing on her level, ready to attack her.
Between Overhaul, Eri, and her there was a high wall she wouldn't be able to jump.
Eri looked over it. "Miss Likstar!"
"Eri?" Shine was relieved. "There you are. Hi, sweetie."
Overhaul grabbed Eri's head. "I suggest you don't try anything if you don't want me to take her apart in front of you while you watch."
Eri trembled.
Shine swallowed. It had been her plan to draw Overhaul out with Eri by speaking the way she had, it looked like Mimic had told him everything.
This told her he was stupid enough to fall for that, which was good...but he was also willing to use Eri as leverage even though he needed her, which means he was willing to hurt her further.
That was no surprise, prison hadn't knocked any sense of empathy into Chisaki's head.
"What do you want, then, you monster? You wouldn't bring me to my target without some sick, twisted reason of your own." She said aloud, making sure she played up how way she sounded.
It wasn't a total farce, she was worried...she just needed him to think it was because she was dumb.
"You think I'm the monster?" Overhaul said, "You don't understand anything. You're as sick as the others, sicker even. Teaching people to think there's hope, when the only hope is for this sick world to be cleansed."
"On that we agree, but our definition of what the world is sick from is not the same," Shine said, glaring at him, "In my book, your corruption and cruelty is the disease, and you are sick to the death of it, Overhaul. You should look at yourself before you diagnose anyone else. Would a healthy person do these things?"
Overhaul was not pleased to be called diseased by her. "Silence," he snapped, like a bratty child.
Eri whimpered as he tightened his grip.
"You don't know anything," Overhaul went on, "What are you? Just a simple, little fool trying to teach some ancient, diseased doctrine to unsuspecting fools."
"Little? I think I'm taller than you are," Shine said.
That answer only infuriated him further.
"Do you think this is a joke?" he said.
Eri screamed as he dismantled a small part of her arm.
Shine almost threw up. She held up her hands. "All right, all right, I'm sorry. Stop, please."
Overhaul stopped. "That's more like it. Let's all stay reasonable here. The only reason I brought you here was to show Eri what becomes of people who try to take her away from me. I'll start with you, since you walked into my trap first, and then that d----d Eraserhead will also suffer. I'll take him apart slowly. Then I'll use his quirk to make my bullets even more unstoppable."
Eri whimpered.
Shine wasn't sure she should say anything since he might just torture Eri more if she sassed him. She looked at Eri and tried to smile reassuringly, but the little girl looked far too terrified for that to work.
